Thanks. I'm pumped. Which is why I'm not sleeping right now.

Is it weird that one of the things I'm most excited for is a fenced off area for the dog?

Nope. My 2 req for apt was patio and in-apt laundry. Simple things.

Good morning to tLodge! ;)

At the ER with my mom. She took a header out of bed apparently.

Good Morning, MEUSA! :)
Sorry about your mother. :(

Good Morning to the rest of tLodge! :)

Thanks Ralph. Just got her home after almost 4 hrs in the ER. She just has a nasty contusion on her calf. Not sure how she did it but it'll leave a mark for sure.

Morning.

Finally Friday! Sunny out, but still a bit chilly. I'm ready for a heat wave dammit.

Big day tomorrow. Closing on the house, then moving over the weekend. I'm already exhausted just thinking about it. I'm pumped to not be moving again one year later though. Time to settle in for a few.

Congrats!

There were years in our first house where I'd be mowing the lawn and thinking, "I don't mind this at all! I get to mow my lawn!"

I was so happy to own that the chores that annoy some seemed a privilege to me. Same thing with moving snow.

That's faded a bit (and I have a teenager to mow the lawn now), but I still do appreciate owning.

There is a certain pride that goes with owning and maintaining a home, that you don't realize until you're doing it. Its a pretty cool feeling.

Speaking of the joys of home ownership, I spent yesterday evening working on getting dirt and gravel, that I plowed onto the lawn this winter, back off the lawn and where it belongs. ****ty job. Before all of the guys come over on Saturday, I'm hoping to get the whole area where we moved dirt last fall seeded down so I can get some grass growing.

Good Morning Lodge.

If any of you love the lawn mowing part so much, you're welcome to come and mow mine - also you can move my snow, and rake my leaves, and pick up all the GD branches that fall all the time, etc., etc. ;)

Congrats to SOH on the home!

I did get the Honda self-propelled tuned and working well last week, took it to a guy. Jr should be pleased with how easy it starts and drives now.

Yes, I should have done it myself and will work on it myself in the future. I blame the ankle surgery (not sure how long I can use that excuse, but I'll milk it as long as possible).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #176 -- it's Mookie's world, we are just living in it

Congrats SoH!! We are also in one of those areas that people presume is bad. They hear "Midway" and cringe. 20+ years here an never had an issue.

Pffft....hated yardwork as kid. Everyone told me once I get my own house that will change, you will love it then. Nope, still loathe it. If Mrs. GE said lets move to a townhouse I could be packed by noon. That will never happen, though, as she takes good care of the yard. :D

Never said that I loved the yardwork....

I was so ready to be out of apartments though that I had a certain amount of perspective that allowed me to not hate it or just be neutral about it.

I just noticed one of the poll choices. Why the hell would I have an 80s birthday party? I was almost middle aged by then...

...and my party won't be till October anyway.

Holy Crap.

How old are you?

And as if you weren't rocking parachute pants, high tops, a member's only satin jacket and feathered hair, driving a Fiero, middle aged or not.

:p:D

OK, maybe an exaggeration. I never had any of those things, one of my buddies' dad owned a Fiero though. I still own a "Disco Sucks" button from that era.

'morning, Lodj.

Congrats on the house, soh.

And GE, I get groceries at the Cub on University, and I've gotten a few comments like the ones you mention about that. It's fine, people! Sheesh!
