Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #176 -- it's Mookie's world, we are just living in it

Another update- Dad's still in the hospital. Flunked a stress test. They're going to do a cardiac cath tomorrow morning. He may have had a cardiac episode that caused him to fall. I'm at the Sox-Twins game now but going to leave shortly to head home, grab something to eat and head up to their place to stay over so I can go to the hospital for the test.

Sox defense about to cough up the lead so I may leave earlier than my targeted after 7th departure. Plus it's a little chilly.

What Scarlet is to crying babies on airplanes, I am to thunderstorms in Denver.

Unexpected recognition awards are always a fun way to start your day. :)

Update on Dad - they're running a couple more tests this morning so he's not getting out of the hospital till early afternoon. My mom says he's fine, my brother said he's in good spirits. His memory of falling is coming back, I think they want to do a CT scan to rule out a possible mini stroke, juuuust to be safe. He's got a lot of little cuts on his face and hands from when he fell. And apparently he dislocated a finger, which the doctor pulled and reset. It happened during school hours right outside my niece's Spanish class. She and her classmates all saw that an ambulance had come for someone but she had no idea it was him.

1. Hell yeah!
2. Oof. Hope it turns out well.

Got smoked today at work. Due to staffing, DHeadBoss came to help. After work was done, talked about the company/our building/etc. I guess HQ did NOT like us hiring a bunch of people, thought we could get by with less. We gave them the middle finger, and still hired. And STILL are the most productive building in the whole company, using their metrics. Yeah, kinda feels good. :)

Saw some of your people at the private MSP terminal on Tuesday. Didn't ask them if they knew you.

They might have met me, but not remembered me. Had some bigwigs visit this week. They were impressed with our operating procedures. Very impressed.

You might see the ultra-rare TwitchCON 1 tonight.

I actually stop cussing like a sailor. It's a scary sight. Kinda like how the rain and thunder stop before a tornado.

Considering past year's events, you will not top Brenthoven RageCon1. ;) That calm before the storm? That lasted a couple months. ;)

Going to leave work early today. We have a fairly early reservation at Butcher and The Boar, and don't want to be late for this one.

Getting a new Iphone from IT. My first one is already junk. Headset speaker doesn't work anymore, in less than a year, and minimal use.

Dad update- they found blocked arteries requiring the need to put in a stent. They're doing that now. And he'll need to be on some meds - a cholesterol med, a blood thinner and baby aspirin for, well, ever. It's interesting he's having this because when I looked at risk factors, the only one he has is that he's over 65. He eats well, doesn't smoke or drink. The doctor we talked to believes this caused him to black out and fall, though he can't say for sure.

He's a hypochondriac by nature so this is going to be a difficult situation for him. I told that doctor to stress to him that this is not out of the ordinary, that he sees many people like this and that it's definitely treatable. He hates taking meds but he has to now.

I'm 45, 5'11" and 180ish pounds and I eat well and exercise almost daily and I have had bouts of high cholesterol.

Some people's bodies just don't process it well.

Hope the med works for him. Did for me.

My Dad had the same thing, although it was 15 years ago or so. He's had no recurrences, but it was certainly a wake up call. Hope everything gets back to normal for him.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #176 -- it's Mookie's world, we are just living in it

Dad update - been a hairy few hours. They put one stent in one artery wrapped around the front of the heart. Easy. Went to put in a few in a different artery that wraps around the back. That artery was very curvy and it was more difficult and wound up rupturing the artery. The doctor came out to tell us that it was a very unstable situation. They tried a couple of times to seal the rupture but couldn't. He said if they couldn't seal it they would have to block the artery. And that would cause a heart attack.

Okey doke. But what does that mean? He said it would be monitored and it would be fine. Not going to lie. We were not prepared for that. But 20 minutes later he came out to say they were able to seal it. Whew. Got to see him. Poor guy - his face is really scraped. The consensus seems to be that he had a cardiac episode that caused him to black out.

He's getting set up in a room in ICU and will be there till Sunday.

Hopefully that's the worst of it.

Fortunately he's where he can be watched closely and they can intervene if needed.
