Yeah, I'm still on the front porch in shorts and a T at 9:00pm and it's the beginning of May.

That doesn't happen too often.

LOVIN it!

I never feel the small quakes we supposedly get here every few years, others swear they can.
I've felt two of them out here. One when I was working in Southfield; we were on the "fourteenth" floor; the building swayed ever so slightly. The other was in Ohoho. I knew something was off and then heard there was an earthquake.

I've also been out in California during a quake. Woke me up out of a sleep. Had a few aftershocks. I think I'll be content living in the middle of the country, thanks.

I didn't feel a thing today.

It feels warmer now than it did six hours ago. Of course, I just gone done with a workout, but it felt warmer in here before that.

In MN, we have tornadoes, as you know. I'll take that over anything. Why? We can see 'em coming. Forget those other natural disasters.

We had a very small earthquake a couple years ago. 2 am or so. It woke me up because I thought I heard thunder. I got up and looked out the windows to the west and saw stars. I sat on the end of the bed for a bit and I felt the slightest vibration. Didn't think anything of it and went to bed. Next morning on the radio I heard that there was a very small quake and the "epicenter" was about 7 miles away.

I certainly felt the 5.8 we had here in 2011.
Here's the Alaskan reaction for each Richter scale level:

1-3: zzzzzzzzzzzzz
4: Hmm, earthquake.
5: Welp, I guess I better duck and cov... its over.
6: Is this gonna stop or is it The Big One?
7+: ****

The one thing about earthquakes that will worry me is one that goes for 30 seconds or more. Beyond that, earthquakes neither surprise me nor worry me.

My mom lived through the big one in 1964. She doesn't talk about it much though.

Actually, I have enough earthquake experience to distinguish between an S-wave and a P-wave.

Minnesota does get earthquakes. But that's only because everywhere does. They are very slight and most people don't notice them.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #176 -- it's Mookie's world, we are just living in it

Apparently we just had an earthquake here.
yep. I was there in the kitchen about to fix some lunch, and all of a sudden just felt a boom and the house shake. Was wondering what the hell was going on. Looked outside thinking it might be some freak windstorm or something, but dead calm, and heck, non of the horses even seemed to be concerned about what just happened.

Morning.

Beautiful weather this weekend and coming week. 75-80 and sun every day basically.

So, I went to my sister-in-law's mother's 40-day memorial service. And Bernie Carbo was in church. Not sure how many of you remember him but he played for the Red Sox in the 70s and hit this towering home run in the 1975 World Series. No idea why he was there - he's not Greek (maybe his wife is?) but after the service was over I told my dad to go up to him. This is his 45th year as a season ticket holder and he went to one of those World Series games. My dad was pretty excited to meet him. Sadly I couldn't get my phone out fast enough to take a picture. :)

Good Afternoon, Lodge!

Just back back to Minnesota from my weekend in Milwaukee. Got inside right before the storm hit. Fun time seeing people that I have not seen in awhile.

Got notification of a beer fest that happens to fall on a milestone b-day of mine, but the lack of vendors + price makes it not worth it (30~ breweries/$40). The autumn fest ruined other fests, it seems. That one had 110 breweries for $45. Oh well. Found a spot that will suffice. For the locals, it's the Yard House at West End. Solid place for brew.

Good Evening Lodge.

I had to change my PW today. Don't remember having to do so for this site before.

I was living in Oakland, CA and had a lady friend visiting from PA. We were sitting watching TV when there was a rumble and shake. She said "what was that!" I said "about a 5.2."Turned out I was really close on my guess. She was kinda freaked by it.

I thought this was going another way right until the last sentence.

Overestimating again?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #176 -- it's Mookie's world, we are just living in it

Had the weirdest golf event today.

Mookie is currently carrying a high handicap (11) and played a match against a guy met for first time in a planned season long match play event. The guy is a 10.

So while Mookie gets "1", we are supposed to be shooting low 80s scores (83-85ish)
We this guy starts out
Birdie 3
Bogey 5
Birdie 2
Birdie 3 (chips in)
Birdie 3 (putts from the fairway)
W T F
Tiger and rory don't so this.
(Mookie though has par'd every hole :( and is 3 down)

So the next holes dude bogey bogey - and Mookie par par to get to 1 down.
Now--- through 7 holes mr 10 handicap is -1 and Mookie 11 handicap is even.
8 Mookie bogeys and loses to par.
9 Mookie rolls in a 18ft birdie putt to win after conceding a par.
Front 9 Mookie is -5 net and other dude -1 gross (-6 net)

[this stuff usually gets one beat up in the parking lot :D)

What an incredible fun day. We played very well on the back too-but not as good as the front. Mookie lost 2&1. Dude was +1 after 17 which made him net 9 under par. Mookie had 2 more birdies on the back but a double on 10 when he drove into the driving range and a missed short par putt did him in.

So you rated her a 5.2? Hard to believe that didn't work out better.... ;)
