I find it really depends on the airport, the date, and the time of day. Also, add more time for intl.Morning. At Tampa Intl, little over an hour to my flight through Atlanta.
As the others have said, while airlines recommend 2 hours for domestic flights, you're almost certainly fine at 75-90 minutes. Absolute minimum of 45 minutes (some airlines will accept bags at 30 minutes, but it depends on airport as well).
FWIW, I generally aim for 60-75 minutes, and have never had an issue.
That's universal. Frankly, 1 hour is okay from my past experiences in the last 4-5 years. Flew at least once a year, mostly twice a year, early early flights (7-8am mostly). Just be prepared. No metal on person, no checked bags (I can pack 3-4 days of clothes in a LEGAL carry-on). Never had problems.
If possible, don't use the center security line at MSP. EVERYONE uses that one. See if there is another one open on the ends. They usually are, and no lines. Other than that, the airport stuff isn't bad at all.
How would an airline know if you were at the airport or not now that we have online check in?
I doubt they think I got there 23 hrs early.
Checked bags add literally one or two minutes. It's security that can be a *****.
When I was leaving Boston it took 38 minutes to get through security. If I had gotten there an hour early I would have been at risk of missing the flight. I've seen up to an hour in Minneapolis before.
Get there 90 minutes early. Unless it's before 5 AM or after 10 pm. If you're early, no big deal. Find a place to grab a preflight snack or coffee and find a primo seat at the terminal.
Happily, I'm flying Southwest, so it's out of the Humphrey terminal - Terminal 2. From what I remember of that terminal, everything there is much quicker than the Lindbergh terminal.Checked bags add literally one or two minutes. It's security that can be a *****.

It was a suggestion mostly made in jest.IIRC, worst odds. Why? Because what else is there to do at the airport but gamble?
Getting through security is the main reason to get to any airport at least 90 minutes before a flight. The lines at McCarron are some of the longest I've ever seen so you need to build in that time. I would never plan to be there any less than 90 minutes. Getting to Las Vegas, it's one of the nicest and easiest airports to get through. Large and easy bagage claim. The taxi line is enormous but it's like a well-oiled machine and it moves really quickly. I tell people I'm not a nervous flier. I'm an anxious traveler. I want to make sure I'm there in case there are delays or cancellations or bad weather, etc. I don't mind sitting at a gate with extra time.
Back at work - it really helped to have a three-day weekend. Still not 100% but definitely much better than I was. Now trying to dig out from a bunch of stuff and catch up on things I've missed.
