Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #175: More Spring Cleaning

I'm too lazy to go and get the pre check stuff done. Plus at pit I can go through the first class/business line which is always empty.

Sorry if it was asked before, but are any of you TSA Pre Check people?

Yes, and A list for Southwest too, so I basically bypass everything (ticket counter and most of security) pretty often.

Prechceck took me less than 20 minutes to fill the application out and do my interview stuff. Its worth it, IMO, if you fly a reasonable amount of times each year.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #175: More Spring Cleaning

What's the cost of TSA precheck again?

$50 if you're willing to go do the interview at a Canadian border crossing (NEXUS), and it's good for 5 years, at which point you simply pay again (no re-interview unless there's been a major change in your records). Otherwise, $85, but you might as well spend the extra 15 bucks on Global Entry at that point.

I'm considering Global Entry.

I always get there 2 hours early to give myself enough time. Although here in Anchorage, Alaska Airlines has a ridiculously easy check in system (and no bag fees for Alaskans) and I cut the security line (because I have an airport badge).

I like 1+ hour layovers so I can eat as well.

Threads about to close. I can't create new poll threads on my phone so it'll fall to someone else...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #175: More Spring Cleaning

I think we should.

And I get to the airport 2 hours early, just because. I usually wear a biz-casual outfit, less metal/slip on shoes. It's all about efficiency. Then I head somewhere to get a bite to eat/drink (for DIA it's the Aviator Club or whatever it's called), and chill. Wifi is used, when free. I've only been delayed once, really, and that was due to no pilots. I prob should have been delayed/re-routed last time I was in CO:

Gophers at CC, Sunday was a huge snowstorm in Mpls. Team was diverted to Omaha. There were 2 runways open in MPLS when I left DIA. During my flight, it was down to 1 runway. Landed, city was shut down. I had no ride, due to that. All friends/family was snowed in. Airport dispatch told the taxi dispatch "Send ALL the taxis. NOW." :) 90 minute wait for a taxi, but no fault to the taxi companies. Continuous in-and-out for their fleets. All things considered, the airport/taxi companies did a hell of a job.

On another note, I know SeaTac in Seattle as well as I do Anchorage's airport I've been there so many times.

Having an airport badge makes things easier too. Free long-term parking and easier security lines makes life easy.
