JJ, I don't know how you deal with that one particular poster in your fanbase...you had a recent argument with him/her. Seems like a complete dullard. You're spot on, in what you're saying about your team. Its ugly, and there's no use in sugar coating it and hoping it gets better. Say it like it is and try to drive some change.
As you know, we were in the same boat several years ago. It took a massive investment in the program, and hiring a top of the line coach. The coaching staff's first priority was to eliminate the losing culture that overtook the program for about 20 years. Since then, the results speak for themselves.
That losing culture is cancer. What we saw at Tech was that promising Freshmen and Sophomores hit a wall after their sophomore seasons, the theory was that after that point they were used to the losing, came to the conclusion that they weren't going to change it, and mailed it in. We rarely had upperclassmen that believed they could win. One of the few exceptions during that terrible run was when we had exceptional senior leadership, and the team out-performed their abilities, because they actually worked hard, and believed in themselves. Disappointingly, the next season was back to the same old ****.
