Btw, what's Wisconsin's ranking?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

According to CHN, they're a perfect 0-6-0, coming in at #59.

That takes commitment. Or de-commitment, if your'e a former recruit. ;)

Luckily I have so many distractions or that could be depressing.

Good Morning Lodge.

Luckily I have so many distractions or that could be depressing.

How'd the boy wind up from tryouts? Jr was cut and is now trying out for Jr. Gold A. What I expected but not happy with the process and some of the choices made.

Excellent. Maybe all my mediocre team needs is to get into the B1G season where we can play teams that are worse than us. That's right, I'm lookin at you #47 Sparty and #59 badgers. The view is so nice from up here at #38 in the pairwise.

I have bad vibes about the RPI-Michigan games this season, despite RPI finding ways to beat UM most times when we have played. (For those who don't know, RPI is historically 7-3-1 vs. UM.)

Sorry to hear. It's tough once they get to this age and opportunities are no longer guaranteed. We've seen a lot of kids fall off in all sports - including my own in baseball.

I know what it is to be a parent who wants opportunities for his kid and not have them happen. Sometimes, I think it's harder on us than on them.

Hopefully Jr. Gold A pans out.

Unclear on my boy. He's in a group of players that will split time or pull double duty. He will play both JV and varsity - often both on the same day. Kids can play 5 periods of hockey in a day, so he'd play 2 periods of one game and 3 of the other.

The downside is mostly on the pride side. I believe he deserves to be a full varsity player and am also disappointed in some of the choices made - I simply don't agree with them and don't know what they're seeing. I'm not the only one either. Oh well. And yes, I know, first world problems...

The upside is considerably better if things play out the way coach is claiming they will. If the boy gets to play both, not only will he get a lot of ice time, but I believe he will show them his value. Trust me when I say, they don't have another kid like him when he gets lathered up. Think Andrew Shaw or Nick Licari. That's his game and he revels in it. Very few kids are willing to do what he will. That's not just my opinion - other coaches have expressed that thought about him to me.

My only concern is whether he gets the promised opportunities on varsity.

He got to be on the varsity poster - they shot the photos last night - so there's that.

Time to get on with it and stop wondering/worrying. Have a scrimmage against Wausau West Friday and a game on Saturday.

I'm busy thinking about how warm it will be in Houston and not worrying about those games. While it may only be 44 degrees there now, turkey day is forecasted for a high of 67. Maybe I should pack shorts. I'm not even sure if I'll check the CHN app, it might just ruin my vacation.

I found it helped a lot to see other kids that I knew were good also get cut when I tried out for b-ball. My high school had 90+ girls try out for Freshman basketball. They took 12, I made it to the last 18 before getting cut. Having played rec league with all the girls that were made it to final cut and seeing who got cut vs. who stayed made me feel better. They cut some great players that were short, kept below average players because they were tall, kept a girl that couldn't dribble but flirted with the coach, and the obvious principal's daughter, county school athletic director's daughter. Both of the political choices were good players, but not better than those who got cut.

Hopefully your kid makes the best of the situation he's in.
