And in running news- Lil found out last night that he made All-Conference :D:D:D He had an abominable conference meet so thought he wasn't going to make it. House was like a funeral parlor for the last 2 days until he found out last night. So proud. He won 5 out of the 8 meets this yr so not too shabby but his conference meet was bag over the head bad. He is a happy boy now.

Congrats lil! So any idea what is the source of the inconsistency? How does he occasionally have the bad races? Do you think it's mental or physical, does his prep change? Hope he gets it sorted out so he can get college running offers.

Usually very consistent. Only had 2 races this yr he wasn't happy with. This meet was screwed up. Lots of focus on the girls team who they thought might win the whole deal. Out of the groove. Also a little too much mental pressure on himself. Lost focus of what is really important. You are racing against yourself. If you start focusing on what everyone else is doing then poof it falls down like a house of cards. He had beaten all but 4-5 of the kids he was racing and came in 19th. MOst people would be happy with 19th. He was distraught.

I am still planning on trying to make it. We have a birthday shindig for one of the girl's friends Saturday night, I'm hoping to stop by before that. Because of the birthday stuff, we might not be able to bring Beau.

Why do people ask "how are you doing?" if they don't want the truthful answer? Today I've been answering with, "sick. It feels like my throat was raped by a pinecone". Not many people appreciate that response.

A long ago friend of mine did a semester abroad in England through UMD. She said it was very confusing the first few days when everyone would greet her with "Are you well?". She'd been wondering at that point if she looked sick, spent some time in front of a mirror trying to decide if her color was off or something.

I thought my job situation was going to stay the same, after I started looking for a new position a few months ago, and decided to stick with what I'm doing now. But that has changed, I am now planning on applying for a new role, non-engineering role. I would be taking over for a co-worker that I've worked with extensively the last few years, as he is leaving the company. He told me that I needed to apply for his backfill, and now I've gotten several other people, including the manager hiring for the position mentioning it to me specifically. They want someone in that role that knows the product, and no one knows it better than me. I've mentioned my interest to 4 people here at work, to get an idea of what people thought, and all 4 said I'd be a good fit, and that I should apply and would probably get it. I guess we'll see. It would be a significant jump in salary if I get it, and by significant I mean about 30% more than I make now. So there's that.
