Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

I thought my job situation was going to stay the same, after I started looking for a new position a few months ago, and decided to stick with what I'm doing now. But that has changed, I am now planning on applying for a new role, non-engineering role. I would be taking over for a co-worker that I've worked with extensively the last few years, as he is leaving the company. He told me that I needed to apply for his backfill, and now I've gotten several other people, including the manager hiring for the position mentioning it to me specifically. They want someone in that role that knows the product, and no one knows it better than me. I've mentioned my interest to 4 people here at work, to get an idea of what people thought, and all 4 said I'd be a good fit, and that I should apply and would probably get it. I guess we'll see. It would be a significant jump in salary if I get it, and by significant I mean about 30% more than I make now. So there's that.

Best of luck to you! Sounds like a pretty solid career advancement opportunity for you, hope all goes well.

I'm getting more and more excited for the High School Hockey season to start each and every day. Less than two weeks away now!

Usually very consistent. Only had 2 races this yr he wasn't happy with. This meet was screwed up. Lots of focus on the girls team who they thought might win the whole deal. Out of the groove. Also a little too much mental pressure on himself. Lost focus of what is really important. You are racing against yourself. If you start focusing on what everyone else is doing then poof it falls down like a house of cards. He had beaten all but 4-5 of the kids he was racing and came in 19th. MOst people would be happy with 19th. He was distraught.

Did he qualify for the state or district meets?

My situation is so much the opposite. They aren't even considering elevating me. This weekend I'm going over the OPM manual and writing up a point by point justifcation that I meet various criteria.

For the longest time it was believed a paper was necessary. I get a paper as lead author into the top journal based on a project that was requested by the director that ended up being very complex.

My guess is this is going to go over like a lead brick. The question is, is my division chief holding me back, OPM holding back cause of budget, or have I not done enough.

My former (retired) boss was shocked that I wasn't promoted.

Is it bad that I google searches about what home inspectors do.

I have no confidence that I'm going to advance in my career outside of a very lonely battle w management and myself. The latter because if I'm mostly operating independently then its w/o useful experienced support.

And they wonder why people leave here. Take the person who completed the highest profile division project in five plus years and let him twist.

Edit: this also comes off of a very complicated project to revise the agency's biggest product

Not that PC is the best dressed team ever, but ye gods!

Another problem is that the numbers on the back are just about invisible. (black with a thin outline, apparently red).

Sometimes you just have to really HATE sublimated jerseys. This would be one of those times.

As a person who's worn both traditional and dye sublimated jerseys in competitive play, I like dye sublimation jerseys better. They're lighter weight and breathe better. That said, people need to understand the use of restraint with that bit of tech. Mine looked like a classic, normal jersey, only the patches weren't sewn onto the material.

Awesome to hear, bbdl!

Can't believe it's almost November. Time is flying.

And in running news- Lil found out last night that he made All-Conference :D:D:D He had an abominable conference meet so thought he wasn't going to make it. House was like a funeral parlor for the last 2 days until he found out last night. So proud. He won 5 out of the 8 meets this yr so not too shabby but his conference meet was bag over the head bad. He is a happy boy now.

Congrats!

Good luck. A 30% pay raise? Just think of all the extra belt buckles and bib overalls and banjos you could purchase. Maybe even get one of those fancy cement ponds........... ;)

RPI's jersey for this evening's Black Tuesday game https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BXxZ6sFCYAAFmPo.jpg:large.
Looks like something you would see from one of the Euro Leagues..... Yikes!!

You're thinking all too small Gmann. He could go put down a down payment on a new tractor with that 30 percent bump. ;)

Just gonna say it: UND week on the D1 page is like gouging out my eyeballs with a melon baller. They should hand out hemorrhoid cushions at REA for the amount of butthurt they have. I'd rather deal with the Minny fans.
