Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Brent, sorry for your loss.

Now I'm just going to shut up now before I go and get really mopey about it like Mavs did. :p
If only there were a thread for singles.....
There probably isn't though. So I guess I'll post in the Lodge. Boyfriend moved out. I love having my house to myself again.

Headed up North tomorrow (though not as far North as the Biddlyn wedding). Parents are renting a place on Lake Charlevoix. Gonna take a long weekend. I am so excited for sleeping in, seeing my parents and just taking it slow for a few days.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

My work PC gets upgraded to Windows 7 today, in about 25 minutes. So I'm going to have about three hours of no access to my computer. This should make for a fun day.

How many years has Windows 7 been out already? :)

We're always behind on tech, just like how my tech is behind on his schedule. The only reason we're upgrading now is because MS is retiring XP.

We also had some dependencies on tech that's not been compatible with Win7, and we've not had it in our tech budget to upgrade those things that were working just fine within the WinXP environment.

Besides, aren't you the guy who was using a Win98 machine until just a couple years ago?

I don't think so. I currently have Windows 7 on my desktop computer and Vista on my laptop. When I bought my desktop computer two years ago it replaced a computer with Windows XP. I don't recall with certainty what my previous laptop computer or my desktop two machines ago, but I think that one had Windows ME and the other Windows 98. I think that I had Vista on my last work computer.

Brent,

How are your nieces doing?

Hard to say overall; they SEEM alright from what I've seen, but my bro tells me they know that "mommy's with Jesus in Heaven" but then a few hours later they are asking if she'll be back in time to take them to school. :(

went out after work tonight with some co-workers, and soon realized that two of them are kinda pairing up and hooking up. Good for them, but just kinda bringing me down with the thought that I don't have nobody like that right now.

Le Sigh....

Now I'm just going to shut up now before I go and get really mopey about it like Mavs did. :p

Offer up a 3way you big mofo!!!! :D

I think they're younger than I was when I lost my dad. Only 7 at the time and couldn't comprehend the finality of it all. But kids are resilient and as long as they're surrounded by loving family, they should be ok. Keep an eye on them in their teen years though.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

ARRRGGHHH!! Why is it I seem to be the only one with fire drills late on a Friday afternoon??? I gave detailed instructions for a project - we are creating an online directory for a huge employee event that starts Wednesday. Two weeks ago I uploaded a spreadsheet of all the names and highlighted six columns in bright yellow of the fields that needed to be included. In my written instructions, I said "here is the spreadsheet. I have highlighted the fields I need in yellow" I go to look at it today and nothing. I go down to the designer and he says his manager (who is on vacation this week) told him something completely different. The deisgner is on vacation next week and I'm off Monday. Did I mention this event starts Wednesday???? ::head desk::

Irish Fair this weekend which equals Jameson + Guinness which equals a happy GE.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Good evening Lodge.

First time the g family has spent the weekend at home since June 22.

The g family will watch a quarter or two of Vikings domination this evening and then we will head outside and enjoy a fire and make some s'mores.

We were joking about when they start dating. Obviously my bro will have the protective dad angle covered. I think I could manage the crazy uncle persona. That, and imagine what the 'net will be like in 10 or so years...I'll just hire Twitch to do his interwebs magic with sites like Reddit and The Site That Shall Not Be Named. ;)
