Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Busy few days here. To Indiana and back yesterday and today. Non-stop meetings when I was there, including a few with some chief engineers. I feel like I'm getting the attention of some of the higher-up technical people in the company. My supervisor was up here, in Minneapolis, while I was in Indiana, but I still was able to meet with him on Tuesday. We discussed me looking for another position, and he was very supportive, and he gave me some valuable information on his strategy for handing out promotions, and he went as far as to tell me when I'll be up for my next one. We even talked about what I would want my next title/role to be when I get that promotion. One of the reasons I feel like I want to change positions is because I don't want to be left behind and stuck in the same role. My supervisor told me that this won't be a problem, since he has been rating me high on potential, and that he has plans to promote me within the group. I believe what he says, so given the new information, and the fact that I really do enjoy what I'm doing, I am going to stick with my current position at least for the near future.

On the homefront, I finished the last bits on the bedroom we've been refinishing, just in time for my fiance to move a whole bunch of stuff in there tomorrow. Also, wedding planning is going smoothly so far! We have a date picked out, and a venue, and we have a good idea of the direction we're going with many of the other important parts.

Well done and sounds like you have a great manager. I know shop managers when I'm looking for a job at triple m as much as I shop the job. As much as one or two co-workers drive me nuts my immediate supervisor is tremendous.

On the screen porch with a tall G&T. Finally cool enough to enjoy this.

About to sip on some Balvenie 15. Only worked just over 8 hours today, it was slow (thank goodness), but still topped 50 for the week. This is gonna taste even more awesome because of that.

Grilled swordfish steaks brushed with melted butter, lemon and fresh herbs from the garden. Mrs made a strawberry pecan salad with feta cheese and homemade citrus vinaigrette dressing. Yum.

I'm slumming it (by my standards) with canned Sam Adams. I got paid today, I could've done better than this. :p

I made Italian chicken in my crock pot for dinner tonight. Basically it's chicken and Italian salad dressing. Found it last night and it was actually pretty good. Had that with a side of asparagus and garlic bread. Currently beating the crap out of the case of Molson Canadian I bought this afternoon.

If you go the the liquor store by Fitz's, they have a 30 pack of Hamm's for $13.99.

Update about work, they let go the person that was moved to the manger position over me. You know it was bad when the CEO was glad to see her gone. Happy day all around!
