Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Busy few days here. To Indiana and back yesterday and today. Non-stop meetings when I was there, including a few with some chief engineers. I feel like I'm getting the attention of some of the higher-up technical people in the company. My supervisor was up here, in Minneapolis, while I was in Indiana, but I still was able to meet with him on Tuesday. We discussed me looking for another position, and he was very supportive, and he gave me some valuable information on his strategy for handing out promotions, and he went as far as to tell me when I'll be up for my next one. We even talked about what I would want my next title/role to be when I get that promotion. One of the reasons I feel like I want to change positions is because I don't want to be left behind and stuck in the same role. My supervisor told me that this won't be a problem, since he has been rating me high on potential, and that he has plans to promote me within the group. I believe what he says, so given the new information, and the fact that I really do enjoy what I'm doing, I am going to stick with my current position at least for the near future.

On the homefront, I finished the last bits on the bedroom we've been refinishing, just in time for my fiance to move a whole bunch of stuff in there tomorrow. Also, wedding planning is going smoothly so far! We have a date picked out, and a venue, and we have a good idea of the direction we're going with many of the other important parts.

Movin' on up.....to the east side!

Good work, man. I know you work your butt off at your job, and you do enjoy it quite a bit.

I'm supposed to hang with a friend on Sat afternoon, haven't seen her in a few months, but if tomorrow is anything like today...I'll have too much stuff to do before I head to TK's tomorrow night and chill.

Going to be going up north saturday nite to enjoy a little piece and quiet up at the family cabin. No phone lines, no internet, and not even cell service there. Lot of piece and quiet, especially if a few more of the cousin's bring their kids up and I get tagged to take em canoeing or floating on the Manistee river.

Yay. Boats reporting as little as 9' of water in some places on the Ohio river. Looks like a fun trip back south when we start heading down there again in a few hours after this lock. Mississippi isn't as bad as last summer... yet, but it is trending that way.

Morning lodgers! are Mark and Ralph early risers or late to bed? My friend, insomnia, dropped by tonight.
that and all night heat lightning and the house creaking and
3 overnight guests has left me awake. no man or beast should have to see 4 am!

Ralph never sleeps, and Mark's an early riser. I drive tugboats and watch over the lodge while the rest sleep.

I am an early riser. I think that Mark is also.

Edit: see hp1015's post.

I've been done with sleeping through the night for months now. I hear it potentially gets better after the kids finally move away, but no guarantees.

Good Morning Lodge.

Happy college football season all!

Some nice work by your buddy for the Gophs last night. Was thinking of you when he took off for the 48 yd or so TD run. The rest of the team and the D not so impressive (other than special teams).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Good morning Lodge. I myself was up almost all night. I think it may have been the extra strength Excedrin I took before I went to bed. Every now and then caffeine bothers me. I went out for drinks last night and hottie bartender's martini felt like it was extra strong. Grabbed a sandwich on the way home as I was starving. Watched one show on the dvr and went to bed about 10pm. Fell asleep due to the alcohol, but woke up about 1:30am and tossed and turned the rest of the night. Had I known some of you were here, I would have logged on!!

Off today. Going to head out to breakfast, then to the tailor to get my Emmys gown tailored. Then to the Walk In Clinic at my hospital to get my ear cleaned out.

Good Morning, Lodge!

My co-worker that drives me insane might be shown the door today. Except she texted me saying she is not coming in today. There has been a lot of BS with her as the "new" manager. She got on my other co-worker's case about a $6 credit that my other co-worker was right. How she went about it was wrong, but in the end was right.

Morning.

Heading to Minneapolis tonight. Glad it dropped below 90!

Fair plan at the moment is to try and go Saturday morning (9-10 am) and avoid some of the heat and some of the crowd (fat chance i know).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Morning. Hoping for a holiday weekend slowdown at work, but that's probably unlikely. At least it looks like gorgeous weather for the Fair on Sunday.

"Forklifts" was an answer to a clue in a crossword puzzle I did this morning (Warehouse transports). :)

Good Afternoon Lodge.

Had my second Wheel audition yesterday. Passed the written test (given my name was the first called, I'd assume I had top score), and during the audition, had a "call back" to play the mock game. What they did was they had everyone play a mock game, then take a written test (16 puzzles, 4 each of 4 different categories, you have 5 minutes to complete it), anyone who had passed by then plays a mock game including an "interview" where you talk about yourself in 10 seconds, and then they did a "call back" at that point, as they asked a couple more of us to play again. I'll know in 2 weeks if I get into the contestant pool.
