Back in 2000-2001 season, the 200-level seats behind the nets were $10/game, and for those who've not been to the Xcel Center, that's a really good view of the ice. Now a cheap seat is $40. That's nuts.

Those are for lower level seats, but it's still crazy $85 is cheap for two tickets to a hockey game.

I like seeing 2 and 3 sport athletes. Many if out guys are two sport athletes, but specialization in the metro here has led to the same in Southern MN.

I woke up and can't fall back asleep. Crazy to think I'm actually 21 years old.

If you weren't out for power hour, you're doing it wrong.

Mornin', kids. Up early to feed the baby. Don't know why she can't take care of herself, yet. She's 5-1/2 weeks old; let's get going, girly! ;)

When they can take care of themselves is when you really start to worry, just sayin'.....

Happy Birthday Mavsey!! Be careful out there.

I received an EMail from MarkEagleUSA. I had wondered what happened to him since I hadn't seem any messages from him for a few days.

He changed his USCHO EMail address and for some reason it caused his account to become invalid. He tried to contact Board but so far has not received a response. He also sent an EMail to Ed T via the latter's Twitter account -- again nothing. If anyone has any suggestions or has an in with someone who can fix this, please do. I can forward suggestions to MEUSA since I have his new EMail address. Sending them to him via USCHO might go to his old EMail address. I don't know if that is still valid.

Happy birthday!

Good morning Lodge.

Had a moment during this morning's commute where I considered just continuing down the highway. Was on I-94 West and went an exit further than normal to get coffee. Thought about continuing and driving to Omaha. I have little on my schedule this weekend, and it'd be fun to catch some Michigan hockey games. Mostly I think I need to escape because if I don't I will spend all my time sitting around hoping a guy calls me.

Good morning Lodge. Back in the office for a day. We're moving our department to another building so it's a pack-up day. Got to wear jeans. And tonight I'm going out - it's Thursday!! Friends taking me out for my birthday at hottie bartender's bar. Haven't been there in a month. Hope they all remember me!!

Due to the move, we get tomorrow off as we have no office to go to. While I will be checking email, etc., it will be good to sleep in a bit. I'm pretyy exhausted.

Also, I see no one took my request to start a new thread seriously.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

OK, I know I am a girl and not getting it but sheesh. What happened to well rounded 3 season athletes. They aren't allowed anymore. Reading this all makes me realize how glad I am that lil runs. You are either faster or you are not when you run. People have forgotten it is a game and these kids are kids. If you want your kid to be a kid then he is screwed no matter how good he is because he gets left behind by all those people who politic and 'position' the kid to be seen in kindergarten. No unwritten rules about playing year round or your kid won't improve (so your kid gets overuse injuries at 14 instead of 20).

In reality the percentage of kids that will move on is miniscule. The percentage of kids who missed out on a lot because they thought they would move on is enormous. Mr les and I were talking the other day. Lil is All conference, running All-States and doing quite well. We were remembering the people who told us that he would never amount to anything because we weren't willing to invest or take things seriously (like don't let the kid swim in the pool for a half an hour because they had a game 28 hrs later). All those people who paid thousands of extra dollars to position their kid and have him play on 'Select' teams are still waiting for the moment of discovery. Those kids missed parties, doing all sorts of things that kids should do, played on 2 teams, had 300$ sticks at age 8. Not one of those kids is playing at a high level. They are playing mediocre hockey on the 3rd or 4th line, at the Local HS. One of them might make a D III team. I always ranted about how nuts they were. Mr just got round to saying they are nuts 3 yrs after he stopped playing. You learn something new about your spouse every day :p

I'd rather have a kid that plays three sports and doesn't go on to college or NHL level of the games than one kid who looks at a sport as a job. Too many times I've heard about kids getting burned out on hockey because that's all they did growing up. Also, the sport should be seen as a reward, only to be played once homework and chores are done. If I ever have kids, they're going to despise me for being a hard ***, I just know it. Yet this is how everyone in my neighborhood grew up.

Morning, Lodgerz.

Today I think I'll shut the thread down by griping some more. Anybody here ever had airline food? What's up with *that*?

:p
