Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Sorry. It was in use today. My boss used it on a client.

Probably for the best. Our MainBoss (new, still getting used to how we work) is 6'8" and named Thor. He didn't deserve the shovel, but he woulda been hit in the flurry I would have unleashed.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Hammer, I could have used your shovel today at work. I could just randomly swing it and guarantee it'd hit every person that needed it.

Mentioned in Extras thread, but met Madre's kids last night; they liked me. So, that is out of the way. Next weekend, she meets my family. This should be fun.

Dad is also in hospital, I guess he has to have his gall bladder removed, some sort of infection. Should be out by next weekend, though.
I want to be next in line to borrow the shovel. Maybe the lodge should invest in a few shovels so we don't have to share so much.

First snow of the season for Pittsburgh last night. Just a thin layer of white on the grass. Roads still too warm for it to stick.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Off to the rink for our first "morning" practice of the season; the guys have a late start for school today so we don't skate til 7:30. 6 am tomorrow.:)

Greetings from my flight from O'Hare to Colorado Springs! My arriving and departing gates were about 11 miles apart it seemed. Just made it as they were boarding. I was smart and packed a lunch for this flight. I'm starving and want to eat it now but I have this thing about eating lunch before noon. That will have to change, as with the time zone changes I really don't know when it will be noon.

Never had a car while I was in NYC
Never had a car either when I lived on Virgin Gorda

--- mind you, wasn't 8 YEARS!!!! :D
He lived in Minneapolis for about 6 of those and that's not easy. Twin Cities are not known for our convenient and high quality mass transit. Though we do sink tons of money into it...

In CO Springs, it'll be 12:00PM there when it's 2:00PM EST.

We'll be sinking more into it as the Met Council wants a 0.5% increase in sales tax in order to fund buses and the proposed LRT line going out towards Eden Prarie way.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #170: Fair Weather

Minneapolis transit is the gold standard compared to Pittsburgh. This place has almost nothing.

Yeah, you have to be more of a devotee in that case.

True car free is an entirely different lifestyle. It often romanticizes the block like living of old and the pod like living of futurists. Either way, not for me.

I think it would now be pretty easy if one lived in downtown and worked there. JF lived a ways out in Uptown neighborhood though, making it a little harder. There are now a Target store and a couple supermarkets downtown.

Good Morning Lodge.

Is this tryouts for the high school? Jr is going through it this week.

It is. We have to cut six guys this year, and while that may sound like nothing to you, that's a good problem for us to have now, and shows our numbers are growing. In addition, we did a "Try Hockey for Free" clinic 10 days ago and were expecting 40-50 kids and ended up having 96. I'm glad numbers continue to grow here, and it should be awesome for our association and the future of Mankato Hockey.

How's it going for Jr? Hope all goes well for him.

I'm having an absolute blast so far working with the high school team; I think I'm more involved so far than was anticipated, which is awesome. I'm a very hands on, vocal coach, and I've jumped right in and have started earning trust and respect from the players. Today our head coach let me run the first fifteen minutes of practice with everyone, working on skating. In addition, I've been able to run a couple of "my" drills with our forwards during F/D split time. I'm excited to be involved and continue to learn.
