Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

I drank and partied hard when it was time to do so. Surrounded myself with good people. Got good grades. Captain of hockey team. Went to college to slow things down a bit...........;)

Agreed on the "good people" bit. We always collected keys, and when people wished to leave, they had to pass all the drunk tests (same as what the cops use) to even be considered for the "key release." Each of us four we administering the tests.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

Was a true innocent in HS but college  Met and hung with kids who had been partying for yrs but were excellent students. I learned more than academics in college. We partied very hard a couple of days a week (back when Happy Hours were legal and they had 2 for one specials. 5 bucks could get you toasted!) and then hit the books the rest of the week in the library. When I think back I truly wonder how we ever lived to tell the tales we do.

Mornin' Folks.

I definitely had a good group of friends. Never had problems with the drinking and driving thing, and people were smart about what they were doing.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

Good Morning Lodge.

My electrical engineering colleague and I trying to reach an agreement as to which of us holds down the architect and which of us kicks the living * out of him.

This stupid little project at a local college has looked to us like it has been over the construction budget from the start. The architect has failed to convince the Owner to dial things back and keeps pushing for more crap they can't afford. We issued documents for bidding last Friday. On Monday the architect met with one of the key users and came out with a total redesign of this little coffee bar area. This meeting should have happened a minimum of two weeks BEFORE we issued for bids. This will add to the budget woes and increase our workload at a time we are overworked as it is. At least my boss will make a call today to go after additional services fees to pay for our work on the redesign.

And you will, OF COURSE, be passing this time-tested, tradition-honored model of behavior on to your son as he heads to college. No? Oh, I see. It's the old do as I say not as I do routine, eh? :D

What do you mean back when happy hour was legal? There is happy hour at practically every bar...

God a lot of the drinking laws in this country is bass ackwards. In VA you can have happy hours but you can't advertise them

Happy hour is illegal some places. Shortly after the St. Cloud Homecoming riot in '88, the city made happy hours illegal. Blame PJOYN. He was there.

That is almost as idiotic as making "ladies night" illegal.

Back in college I visited a friend in St. Cloud. We started at The Press. Happy hour was 5 for 1. Mixed drinks. Tall. All gas. Started at like 3pm and ended at 5pm. The place was a zoo at the start and only got crazier.

Agreed. However, what the city couldn't control were the prices set by the bars. So near the university's campus, the bars there all had really cheap prices all the time instead of going from $3.50 to $1.50 per beer, they were all just $2.00 or $2.25 all the time. While it's not as cheap as could be, it kept the students in the bars. Also, some places, like the hoagie shop Bo Diddley's, had a regular menu item for a bucket of suds, and it was something like $10 for 8 Buds.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #166; And Now On To....

Morning, all.

remember when cheers! had their anniversary show in 1990? mookie had no tv and no money and was living in manhattan. i went and watched it in an bar, but had to leave after a while.... cause you can't keep ordering water :p
luckily i was able to leave and hang out on the sidewalk and watch the rest of the show through the window. whata loser!!!!

A different New York back then, that's for sure. I visited a friend in '91 who lived in Hell's Kitchen (West 51st or thereabouts), and he said, "Don't mind the drug dealers on the corner. They know you're not there for business, they'll leave you alone." Good times.

Whaddup, POTY! :)

One time my parents left town on vacation and left me alone with the house......

In hs Mookie had a friend who came late and his parents were older and retired and would go to fla during the winter..

Anywhos....

One Saturday Mookie and another friend show up early and billy is just waking up. We try to get a move on to go eat breakfast when billy says "wait. My dad wanted me to take the dogs to get put down today"

We look at each other (me and other arriver) and don't say anything.

Bill leaves the room and comes back and a rifle. He opens window facing back yard and drops one dog. Clean shot. He aims at the other dog which is rightfully spooked (as Mookie was too !!!). First shot hits dog, but not the best aim with the dog figgity and prolly expecting it. Bill gets mad and fires again. This time dog drops dead. Billy is po'ed he had to waste an extra bullet.

Ah good ole' western pa'tucky
