Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #162: Love Is In the Air

Rochester Century, an average to slightly below average AA team beat them 2-1. A lot of high school teams would do it. (Taken out of their comfort zones as well, without checking)
It's amazing how much checking there is in no-check girls hockey. Excuse me, those are called "rub outs".

And.....go!

SquareD. It was installed in 1982.

The electrician said he's never seen one do this. With just a single 60w light as a load, the voltage drops on one leg and rises on the other.

The old panel is out and the new one's in place. Working on rewiring now.
Wow
SQD is good stuff especially that old, I've seen mains burn up but generally in a store and they were extremely overloaded

How's Fargo? You eating solid foods and keeping them down yet?

I was very dehydrated yesterday but was able to eat and drink liquids. Felt better, but as the day wore on, I got a pretty bad headache. This morning I feel even better and more hydrated. Minor headache and still sucking down water and Gatorade. Don't really have much of an appetite yet; hoping that comes back sometime soon.

Fargo has been awesome. What a great experience for the kids. We ended up going 2-3 and taking 4th in our bracket. Lost game one against a Minneapolis Storm team that is in the final four today.(64 team tourney, remember) then beat Sartell 4-0, East Grand Forks 6-0. We then played a team fom Dallas that had current Star defenseman Stephane Robidas' son on the team, as well as the great Joe Nieuwendyk's son. Was able to talk to Joe, he's a big guy, but he was nice. His kid was pretty good. Robidas' kid was better, though. A very talented defenseman that looked like he had it in his blood. Lost to them 4-0, then lost this morning to St. Cloud 5-1. (with two ENG) we actually outplayed them but couldn't score, and gave up two soft ones.

It sucked being sick, but at least I won't have to miss school due to it. 24 hour flu that was a nasty one, but glad it's done and over with. Yuck. I haven't been sick like that in years. I missed the Force game our kids went to, as well as Friday's second game behind the bench, but it was for the best for everyone.

I agree one hundred percent. We played the Maverick women my senior year of high school. It was 9-1, but tough to adjust, because they are VERY good at playing the physical play without checking. They know how to get in position to "play the body" that we didn't use for years.(Squirt hockey)

Needless to say, I'm excited to be en route to home. Three of the last four weekends have been in hotels for hockey tournaments, I'm still not one hundred percent, and I can't wait to get back to my own bed.

The main was toast but even after replacing the panel we still have no power. Apparemtly there's also some kind of short or voltage drop in the wire feeding the panel.

An hour ago there were 3 electricians and a supervisor with line crew from the power company here. After several attempts to figure it out I suggested running a new ground wire and viola!

Now we're waiting for someone to drop off a new hunk of wire.

Cha ching!

You have an underground service? Its not a ground, its the grounded conductor otherwise known as a neutral, the white wire etc. Someone dropped the ball on that

I can't be the only one that laughs at the Honda President's Day sale commercial, can I?

It's not underground and you're right... it's the neutral. Where the cable came into the house from the meter the jacket split and water got in (quite a bit too) causing some sort of failure. The actual ground was bad too. The new feed wire was installed and we're almost back in business. The contoller for the boiler got zapped and we lost a TV and cable box plus about every lightbulb that was on when things went wacky Friday night.

The oil man just left. He bypassed the controller so we have hot water and 1 zone of heat on the 1st floor. He'll be back tomorrow with a new controller.

The temp just hit 60 in the house and we have hot water!

It went wacky or more importantly you had bulbs burning with something greater than 120 volts, probably close to 200 volts. I thought it was weird when you said the voltages changed when he turned on a lightbulb. That wasn't the breaker that was the neutral. Glad you got it running, warm house is much better than cold house in the winter :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #162: Love Is In the Air

So I'm looking to install something for my windows in the master bedroom before I claim it as my room, and I've come to realize that the windows that I liked so much when buying the house really suck if you want something that looks decent. They're 58.25"W x 64.25"H (almost every Fooper chick in existence could stand upright within them), and that means I have to order custom jobs. I've decided upon Roman shades with blackout backing, but now all that's left is to get a color. Of course, the last time I chose a color, I went to order it a few weeks later and it had been discontinued. So the hunt began anew. And I'm convinced that blinds.com, americanblinds.com and selectblinds.com are all the same company even though they purport not to be. Either that, or they all just decided to hire the same web design firm. From how you indicate your window size to choosing colors, they're all so similar that it can't be a coincidence.
