Morning Lodge.

Some nasty ***** with rotten meth teeth negged me for telling the truth. But I don't need or want a refill, I'll earn it with my natural charm. ;)

How about a bunch of us neg rep you and we see how long it takes you to work that charm back to green? ;)

Go for it. I don't measure my worth by how much imaginary cred I have on an internet message board. :p

Dang it. I was hoping you would have said no. I had a few replies ready to provoke you. I was going to call you "yellow" and then I was going to dare you. Triple dog dare you. :p

Would it be possible to take the physical challenge?

Morning, El Lodge-O.

Currently in 5 of 90 remaining players on a poker tournament online. Tournament started with 1500 people. Too bad this isn't for real money.

I once came in 5th in a charity poker tournament, which won me a fancy Rabbit bottle opener. And the guy who finished 6th -- the guy I knocked out -- won a full set of poker chips. Nice ones, too. In a nice case. I shoulda lost sooner!!1! :(

Trying to get a scrimmage set up with a Sommerset,WI bantam A team (WI BA= MN BB2) as they seem to be a strong team. Can't find any strong teams around here, other than the other Edina teams. I wish they'd let us play up for a scrimmage - not sure many B1 teams want to play us though. :(

Our squirt C team is at the other end of the spectrum: EVERYBODY wants to schedule us. :( We enjoyed a 13-0 whupping this weekend, and it wasn't that close. I looked at the website for the team we played -- they have practice or a game five days a week. We have two. Are we the only ones doing a real rec level team any more?

So I have to remind myself: This is the kind of atmosphere we wanted // Our league is known for being low-key: nobody gets cut; no short bench; if you miss practice for whatever reason you still play in the next game // There's lots of things my kid now does right that he was doing wrong not that long ago, and that's fun to observe. Etc. Still, hard to watch these shellackings from the stands sometimes.

I suspect that it isn't much fun for the players either. The pressure of "win at all cost or else" gets old in a hurry but so does being on the receiving ends of regular shellackings.

That's the real reason I quit basketball. Back when I was a youth we only had church league available. Our church team sucked and got thumped each and every game. No fun so I didn't go back the next year.

Was the team then "better"? :p

Hey, I feel for you there. That's much the same scenario in which I played hockey. Rosemount didn't cut anyone, otherwise I would have been cut by any responsible team's coach. We would lost most games, but there was the occasional win. After my year of mites, we never once won a tournament. Not even the one we played in Wisconsin! At least we won a couple games in that one, though. It wasn't until my final year (bantams) that we had a coach who wasn't a player's parent, and it showed. He set up PP and PK units only to have the mothers put an end to them when they finally saw that little Johnny wasn't getting the ice time Stevie did. On one hand, I understand completely. On the other, I wanted to win games!

Not too many rec teams left. How do you stack up against Langford?

Found my next gun! And I might get it tomorrow! A local gun shop has a case of Nagant M1895 revolvers, that they're selling for $138 each. The Nagant M1895 was the service pistol for Russia/Soviet Union during WWI and WWII. Pretty sweet to have one, and they're cheap!
