Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

So, I took a look at some exit listings, and the idiots that numbered I-781 forgot exits 1, 2, and 3. They went right to 4. At least I don't think they plan on three more interchanges...

Silly New York and their sequential exits. I like interstate exit numbers that correspond to mile markers. I'm at mile 181 and my exit is 198? I have 17 miles to go. As opposed to NY, I'm at exit 3 and my exit is 5....I have no idea how much further that is.

You get on at exit 3, and you go two exits. How complicated is that? Not to mention, once they changed things, the Pennsylvania Turnpike has become the most confusing road in the history of the country.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

It's not that it's complicated. It's that it's more fun to be able to do a little math and figure out exactly where you are!

We're in tLodge. There's no maths. ;)

Who cares how far you have to go? If you can't be bothered to fill up your tank before you leave, you shouldn't be driving a vehicle.

I'm still not ready to take the Christmas tree down. It looks nice standing in the corner...

Hey, knock it off - there is tree in North Dakota!
Rock Doc has trees- he said so.

This. Mile marker exits are infinitely better.

And FD... it isn't just gas fill ups, but say I'm coming up on a rest stop and need to take a leak. In NY, I may not know how much further I need to go to reach an exit if I'm not familiar with the area, but with mile marker exits I'll know pretty much how much farther I have to go, and may not need to make an unnecessary stop.

That's why you carry an empty bottle with you. :p:D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

BTW, it's not just NYS that uses proper exit numbering (at least for the most part). Most of New England, minus the wackos that whine about firing Timmay, know that the number that comes after 2 is 3, not 14.

If I drive from MI to go to a hockey game in NY, it's going to take me more than 1 tank of gas. I've been known to travel 900+ miles by car in one day.

Exactly. I want to make as few stops as quickly as possible. Knowing the number of miles to an exit is helpful.

I travelled 3500 miles on my trip to St. Cloud with a side trip to Lincoln and still got to Troy in time for the Sacred Heart game. When I see 1/4 tank or less and a gas station, I stop to fill up, make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fill up my water bottle, wee as necessary, and continue. You don't need to know every single exit number along an interstate highway for that.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

Looking for advice... Am I trolling correctly on the D1 side? It's been a while, so I'm a bit rusty.

;)

So whats the point of ESPN3 if the games that are also on ESPN TV are blacked out for 90% of the nation? Why even list it.

Sometimes I want to watch on my PC, not the TV.

??? mookie just rolls down the window and flips it out and goes while he drives ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #160: Resolute in 2013

All right, now that's an argument I can get behind. I mean, there are Lowell grads in here. //ducks!// //runs!// :D

(Love you, les! Don't ever change!)
:D Patman can carry the math stuff for me. He is brilliant at it leaving me with no responsibility to hold up the UML rep. So BOOOOOOO to math!
