Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #159: Lodge's Attitude Toward Christmas/Holidays

(with apologies to Johnny Cash)

Oh teh Lodge is really somethin',
A funny place to go.
But sometimes mid-December
Teh Lodge is really slow.
Well I shot an afternoon here,
To help my troubles die.
But when teh Lodge is dark and quiet,
I hang my he-ead and cry.

Went and saw the cool lit up tree off of Cedar Ave. this evening. Really is amazing.

I hate the tatt "molting" stage (where it's basically shedding skin as it heals).

That being said, it's gonna end up looking really nice. Very subdued compared to the "pop" that my Gaelic Cross has, which is what I was aiming for. All about the balance and symmetry.

Evening lodge. Had a spectacular night in net. We went to a shootout in our indoor league and ended up with a save percentage of 80%. Easily a personal best.

Having been a goalie in boot hockey....80% is outstanding. Indoor/boot are way different games than normal hockey.

Soccer. So the percentages should be closer to about 25% in outdoor. Indoor the ball is placed about 12 ft from the net. You can do the math. :)

I was second in net. The other team's goalie missed his first save and him and the ref joked, "How are you supposed to save a ball that close?"

I saved the first one with a pretty nice save. The ref says dumbfounded, "Uh, I guess like that."

Morning.

Tomorrow is Nerdgasm 2012 as The Hobbit hits the theaters. I won't be going this weekend, as it will be too crowded.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #159: Lodge's Attitude Toward Christmas/Holidays

Good morning Lodge. So, last night I was cehcking Twitter and saw a tweet from the restaurant where I go every Thursday apologizing for the fact that the upstairs bar (where hottie bartender works) will be closed for a private party till 6:45 and would I like them to save me seats at the downstairs bar instead. Ha!! I didn't know whether to be flattered or horrified. I responded yes, please reserve 2, I'll be there at 5! :)

Afternoon, Los Lodge.

Yeah, that blows when it's just a track meet. Do your mites play cross-ice games? I hope they do. That shrinks the ice enough that in a 3-on-3 game everybody is involved almost the whole time. And less breakaways. If they're playing full ice at age 7? Not a great setup. (IMO) Stats for those teams are usually: 15 kids with 0 goals; 2 kids with 4 goals; and 1 kid with 25 goals. Not helpful!

They have a few actual game days set where they play the entire time. Those days they play on a smaller rink. I think it's about a half sheet, and they play full ice 5x5. During regular practice they do set up a cross ice game as one of their drills they do for about 10-15 minutes. Last year when they were 6 they played a full ice game. Kids were wiped out very quickly on that one. Fortunately about half way through coaches realized this and moved the net to the blue line. Helpped a little but still quite a painful game to watch.

Funny but never thought about it that way with the goals, but you are exactly right. The max I've seen by one kid was 16, and they stopped keeping track on the scoreboard very quickly during that game. Good move. :)

WHen Lil played they never had half ice. When he was 6 they had only 4 D and he layed 1/2 the game. He was NEVER worn out, even when they had 2 games in a day. It was like watching the energizer bunny.
