...aaaand here comes the weapons grade political derp out of my Michigan friends again. Facebook/Twitter moratorium in effect.
I didn't do it. But do you want me to talk about right to work in tLodge, so you can have a moratorium on all the interwebs? I won't

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #159: Lodge's Attitude Toward Christmas/Holidays

Morning Lodge.

Finding it difficult to be motivated today. What if the world really does end in 10 days? I'm gonna be ticked that I bothered to show up to work at all this month. I should be out blowing through my savings.

However, I don't believe the world will end, so here I sit, at work, savings intact. :(

8 and a half more work days until a week off and a trip to see family in Texas.
So I gather that you will be with your family when the world ends. :)

Yikes that's rough. My kid is still a mite for at least one last year so is it wrong for me to root against him from making the squirt team next year? :p

Squirts is fun. The kids drastically improve; with proper developmental coaching of course.

We're playing more road games now, and I've actually had good luck scheduling metro teams! (Those of you that remember this from last year, our goal as an association is to lessen the gap between southern hockey and the rest of the state.)

We have home games with Shakopee, Bloomington Jefferson, Chaska, and Apple Valley. We go to Eagan, as well as play in tournaments in Eden Prairie and Shakopee.

Hockey is picking up with about 6 days a week now, which is more than usual for Squirts, as we have three games this week.

My kid just started Squirts this year, and yeah, it's pretty amazing what some of these kids (and teams) can do. They look especially good against us. :p

Tiggsy, there are some rec leagues that are more mellow. Ours only meets twice a week, and one of those is a scrimmage or a game. Of course, that's also why when we play a team from say Apple Valley (which just happened on Sunday) we get freaking spanked. And I have to say, it was not easy to sit there in the stands and witness that. But that team practices five times a week, so forget that.

(They brought freshly dry-cleaned home *and* away uniforms -- kid's name on the back, the whole thing. Me and my son were the first to arrive from our team, and three of their coaches were waiting outside our locker room. One goes, "We got locker room #2 [that'd be the one with heat, coat hooks, and a ceiling] so you guys are in #4 [basically a lean-to against the rink, no heat, room for about 8 people, no ceiling]." "Gosh, thanks fellas." "Are you guys whites or darks?," they asked. I said, "Good question, our uniforms aren't in yet. But they might make it today, so we'll see." They go, "Well, we've got both with us, so we can do whatever." Now I was feeling that "we're not some fancy league" reverse pride thing, so I said, "Why don't you guys be whites, and then if our uniforms don't show up today we'll just be a mish-mash of everything else." Of course they won 132-0 or whatever it was.)

Broke the moratorium because RUSH IS IN THE M*** ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. THAT SUPERSEDES EVERYTHING. NEIL PEART IS A GOLDEN GOD.

Red Barchetta is on my all-time "DO NOT PLAY THIS SONG WHILE I AM OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE" list.

That is one thing driving me a little crazy about mites. Coaching is always a little suspect and there is absolutely zero focus on teamwork or strategy of playing the game. Always wonder when they will get into that. They spend plenty of time doing edgework and skating drills which is good. Now they are finally hitting some stick handling stuff as well. But playing games is just waiting until the best skaters get the puck and create their own breakaways. Can't be too hard on the coaches though since they are just parents with their own knowledge and I'm not out there as one. So props to them for biting the bullet and doing it.

I'm very excited to see him play in squirts in a year or two just not excited about the commitment, cost, and required volunteer hours that go along with it.

That's the Apple Valley I remember and hated.

I don't get the Rush love. People never seem to be casual fans of the band. You're either indifferent towards them or Twitch Boy crazy over them. Is it the people who are/were musicians that love them? I just don't get it.

And now my evening shall consist of listening to Rush, Rush and more Rush. So many albums to choose from.
I don't think I can pick a favorite Rush song.
And agreed Neil Peart is a God. Both as a percussionist and as a lyricist.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #159: Lodge's Attitude Toward Christmas/Holidays

rush is alright... i have a couple songs on the iphone that i bought. not a huge "listen to the entire album" fan, but i like their popular stuff. 'celtics' is my favorite, obviously :D

I have quite a bit of their older stuff. Not a huge fan but I like listening to them after taking long breaks in between. ;)

Anyone ever been to a Rush concert? Total sausage fest. 99.99% guys.

Speaking of concerts, I bought Mrs. g Bon Jovi tix . Main floor center stage. 10 rows back. 4 tix for her and three friends. Suite at hotel for the evening. Dinner before hand. Merry f' ing Xmas. :D

Twin Cities people: anyone interested in going out Saturday night? I'll be getting a year older.

I might be up for it. Have to head to Rochester earlier the next morning (IIRC, have to leave by 9am), but I'm listening to ideas....
