Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #158: Lodge Member's Habits

So, the nut-job dad from up at our tourney in Duluth - the board had a meeting last night about it all. There will be a follow-up with him to give his side (as if there was one). I sent an email to the parents asking them to tell the coaches (who are all quite young) that we appreciate the good job they did in handling some difficult situations. I named no names, cited no details and was very non-specific. I got blasted by the mom and a couple other moms for that e-mail. You would think I was airing dirty family secrets! There was nothing secret, dozens of people knew there were difficult situations that the coaches had to deal with because the dad acted up in front of an arena full of people (well, not really full, but a bunch of parents and kids).

I got supportive replies from dads but moms seemed to think it was out-of-line to even acknowledge that there was a problem. Must be a gender thing.
This mother routinely got that sort of response from a coaches wife and some other mothers. They were idjits who seemed to think too much out of control testosterone made someone a man. I am with Dave. Right call. If you were generic in you email then the guilty consciences outed themselves.

Not even 2 minutes in and I'm already sizing up the *HT.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #158: Lodge Member's Habits

Good evening Lodge.

I'm going to end up face down in my bathtub in a pool of my own vomit.

1) Borrow Hammer's shovel
2) Use shovel
3) Repeat as needed
4) Return to Hammer

I'm amazed that my shovels didn't end up in this pole.

Morning Lodge.

I'm going to let it lie for now. I'm taking my guidance from a Dilbert cartoon. The last panel says "when you find a big kettle of crazy, it's best not to stir it." I think I've stirred this one enough. I just know I have even more sympathy for the kid involved. He has not just one, but two nut jobs for parents. No wonder he's screwed up. And now I know more about why another kid on the team has such problems, given his mother's reaction to this whole thing.

Yo.

One more day of work until a nice long weekend. Woo hoo!

So what I read in this is mookie saying Hammer isn't memorable.

Mookie had a bunch of stuff in mind that ended up being edited because I didn't want to offend anyone (not that it would have, but if I had to think twice or if I thought it could be taken te wrong way I cut it). Mookie tends to have dry humor that can twist the knife to a degree... And while I wanted this to be funny I had to think about it. Honestly, at the end of putting it up I was giving myself a headache.

But in hindsight a hammer shovel should have been a natural here. I humbly apologize for the slight
