I'd imagine that a beer float kind of thing using an oatmeal stout or something like that would be pretty tasty.
This was from Red Robin (burger joint). Here is their description: Our blend of creamy soft serve, Samuel Adams® Octoberfest draft, vanilla and gooey caramel will make a believer out of you.

I was in a wedding in the Quad Cities five years ago, and there was a place that sold beer floats. The father of the bride was going to take we groomsmen to the place, but we just ran out of time. He said they were "damm tasty". I asked what kind of beer they used, and he said it was just some lager. I expected a darker beer, too.

Hey, I have new project on your campus, Clinical Sciences Building. I'll get in touch if I come down for meetings/walk-throughs.

Sounds like the Scotland trip is just getting pushed out a week, so I'll be going next week instead, with more than 2 hours to get everything planned this time. Should be fun day of travel next Monday: Leave Anchorage at 6am, get to MSP at 2pm, leave MSP at 7:30pm, get to Amsterdam at ~9:30am Tuesday, then one more flight to Glasgow, with a 3:30 Tuesday afternoon arrival time. ****ty.

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

Guy Fawkes was caught as part of a plot on November 5, 1605, trying to blow up the Parliament building in London. He was placing barrels of gun powder in the cellar and tunnels leading to the building when arrested. It was in protest against King (I forget which one) treatment of English Catholics (tortured, imprisoned and executed for heresy) after officially separating England from the Catholic Church.
King James I, I believe

King James I, I believe

Correct, James I of England who was also James the IV of Scotland thus united the crowns of England and Scotland (Ireland too) although political union would not happen until 1707 (and 1801 for Ireland which prior to them was considered a colony of England than an equal).

Looks like I'm going to Las Vegas later this month (see the prayers thread). I'd be happier about going if the reason for my trip didn't suck so much...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

Saw an opera with my girlfriend. Tried a beer milkshake.
Why? / Why?

My internets tell me Don Giovanni was playing in Pittsburghtown this weekend. Great show! One of my favorite moments in all music happens right near the end. Just before the raped girl's dead father appears and drags Don to hell (hey, it's opera) he's having dinner alone. He asks his court musicians to play some music. They start to play, and they play the actual biggest hits from the previous year's top operas. Then they play the biggest hit of the last few years, which was an aria from Mozart's own Marriage of Figaro -- and Don says (more or less) "Sheesh, haven't we heard that enough already?" :D

I'd imagine that a beer float kind of thing using an oatmeal stout or something like that would be pretty tasty.

Here in StPaulLand, Izzy's Ice Cream has a a flavor made with Summit's Oatmeal Stout -- it's pretty good. Definitely worth trying.

Good Morning Lodge. Last day of political ads on TV, a movement we can ALL get behind!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

So I just shut down my Facebook for the day, and maybe a few more days. I have relatives who seem to think I care about their political views as much as the politicians and PACS seem to think that I care about their views shown on their TV ads.

I think I've either got a hdmi cable issue or a reciever issue... No video display on my tv. Boo...

In line to vote, they said an hour and a half.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

My polling place blows. No "I Voted" stickers. Again. Who do I ***** to about that? City Registrar's Office?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

I got out to vote early, on my way to work, about 15 minutes after it opened. There was no line, but the little counter on the ballot taker machine said that 87 people had submitted ballots already before me. I thought that seemed pretty good for the first 15 minutes after 7am.

I tried to use Social Fixer to filter that crap last month, but it doesn't work. So yeah...I stopped looking at Facebook last night.
