Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

The people who are at my local polling place have again proved their incompetence. The first thing that we have to do is show our voter card (which supposedly can be scanned, but they don't have a scanner). Anyway, I went to the A-B table which thankfullyhad no one waiting and showed my card. The woman there started looking through the A's. I said my name starts with a B. She gave me an ugly look. Then she started looking through the B's, and I saw that she passed my name and turned the page. I said "you passed it,' and she sneered again. Thankfully, the C-D woman helped her at that point. They really should require a knowledge of the alphabet. One of the lines for people near the middle of the alphabet was about 30 people long. Thankfully I wasn't there.

Everything went smoothly after that.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

I was 12th in line at 5:50am, but was the 2nd person to feed the machine at 6:04am. What were those people thinking about that was taking them so long?

Better than the other idiots we get to pick from. Don't worry everybody, I went and voted for that other idiot. ;)
You know, I really do believe you filled in the dot marked "Other________" and left it at that.

If MN didn't turn into a "swing state" I was going to vote for a write in, but since there is a slim chance that my vote may actually matter this time around, I figured that I better actually vote seriously. I was leaning towards writing in Clint Eastwood. Or Mookie.

Headed to vote for the first time ever today. I missed the 2010 election by a week or so.

Seems pretty unlikely that MN would go for a Republican for president. They seem to save those votes for more local offices.

Apparently IA, WI, and OH is all Obama needs to clinch victory, assuming all the other non-swing states vote the norm.

Yeah, I agree. But there were rumblings that MN was in swing state territory, so I figured I better take it seriously, just in case it was true.

I tried to use Social Fixer to filter that crap last month, but it doesn't work. So yeah...I stopped looking at Facebook last night.

The complete list of words I blocked:

Obama
Biden
Romney
Ryan
0bama
Nobama
libtard
libstain
conservatard
House
Senate
Congress
election
President
liberal
conservative
Representative
Senator
Democrat
Republican

My newsfeed is now 5 items long.

I am also imposing a moratorium on social media from now until the wharrgarbl dies down.

Was tempting, but I did select between Turd Sandwich and Giant ******.

I think what really kind of irked me was that for a lot of the offices, there was only one person running for those positions. You would think that one of the other Minor Parties would be smart and at least have somebody else to challenge whoever else is running for reelection. Even if it's just county dogcatcher.

mookie got five votes from me at 940a this morning. of the six options there was only one contested (scott brown vs pocohantas) on my ballot.
