Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

FHT, although I'm laughing at all the haters who seem to take more pleasure in my team losing, rather than whatever their team did.

Football football football today.

And the Bacon Bourbon Cookies were amazing.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

Good Morning, Lodge!

I was about to use Hammer's shovel yesterday at the craft fair. There was another vendor selling similar scarves for way less than what I was charging. They using a cheaper version of the material, a different method (halfassed version, IMO) and, half of the material what I use. There were some "customers" that were looking at my scarves and flat out said to their friends right in front of me trying to sell that so-and-so is selling theirs for x price, they need to go over there and check it out. Really people? Do you not have any consideration? Is it really that hard to ask the different methods and quality of material, or the fact that you are insulting my work right in front of me? [/rant]

Somebody's losing the communication game... bad form or not, you have to up your ante in the information game. Get a sign that says "ask about our quality materials" or something. People won't reach out to you if they don't believe they have a reason to care

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

Good morning Lodge. Sitting here in the Grand Forks airport waiting for security to open. Dropped the car off, nobody at the Avis desk. I had to write mileage and how much gas is in the tank and drop if off at the desk. There is a plane at the gate and since I was early I thought it was an earlier flight. Nope. It's mine. First one out. It's foggy here so I hope we take off on time. My connection in MSP is not long.

Yay! Security is open!!,

I even haggle pricing. People look at the tag and walk away. I will speak up and say, I will negotiate price. I ended up selling a scarf yesterday to a person earlier saying a similar comment, but I had better color selection. Negotiated price and made the sale. People refuse to haggle at these things. I encourage it. There is a base point on all my products. It is not hard to ask. The only things I will not haggle are the handmade books. Those are already at minimum costs. If you cannot tell, I do this for a living at my full-time job.

You should also tell these people "the quality of this stuff is also a whole lot better than what's down the street. Look very closely, folks."

Yeah, what Patman said. It might even been worth the investment to get one of her scarves to display at your booth, so that you can point out the differences in her quality stuff versus what the other lady is selling. Might take a little more hustling, but I bet you would have better sales that way with pointing out the little things like better matterial, and better whatever. Sell em up on that.

Well, as Lil would say- "tell us how you really feel"

at the *XC table. Lil is still getting over being sick. :( would have place in the top 8 if he was himself. Was in 8th most of the way but picked up the piano and slung it across his back the last 1/2 mi. Came in 24th (out of 374). He was NOT happy. Grumpy household. On the positive note he ran a 5:09 first mile which he couldn't do last week so things are looking up.

Thank you all for the information. I do have them displayed differently than the others. I was actually commented on that by the other vendors. They were arrogant and ignorant people and I can get behind that. With sales over time, you can tell who you can negotiate with and who is just ignorant. These people were ignorant. The next fair that I am working is with my mom, and she makes the same scarves using the other method. I am going to take one use it for my comparison.

As they walk away you should tell the customers "those cheapass scarves are a perfect fit for a dumbsas like you". :D

Or, she could show them the high quality by wrapping a scarf around their necks and choking them as they walk away.

look here! compare mine with the cheap **** my mom makes!!

Got a kind of random text here tonight, which I believe to be from meanEgirl, asking for a ******* football text. I'm kind of puzzled as to what she means by that, short of she was pulling for Sparty to beat the Cornhuskers so that Michigan could go to the Big Ten Title game. Michigan, Michigan Tech, and GVSU all won.

Ahhh the wonders of group text messages. People automatically assume they are getting texts from people.

Back from tie and pocket scarf shopping for Lil's semi. Yikes. The kid has a hard time deciding what type of burger to have. Need I say more?

Eventual success. Now to the real work of the day- laundry.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

Had a good time last night. Felt like **** this morning...didn't drink enough water, and I didn't eat enough yesterday. Oh well. It only took a few glasses of water and some food and I felt fine again.
