Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

We still have power here at the house but can't get out in either direction due to downed trees. Listening to the police scanner the town appears to be in shambles with trees and lines down all over. The wind was really howling but seems to have calmed down in the last hour or so.

Our governor just had a press conference and used the term "Katrina-like" to describe the pending devastation expected as the next high tide cycle (due in the next 2 hours) hits. News reports from the coastal communities is not good all.

God speed to all being affected by Sandy.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

Finally back home again, I've been away since last Friday morning. :p

Had some meetings this morning that were probably above my paygrade, but they wanted me there and I think I held my own and impressed some of the important people. On the drive home one of the managers I met this weekend asked me if I'd be interested in going with him and a few others to India sometime soon as a "technical expert" on our products, since everyone going was business/marketing and they needed someone with that had a technical background.

Southern Connecticut right outside New Haven. The CT coast from New Haven to New York is supposed to take the brunt of the storm surge in Long Island Sound. Not sounding good at all.

I'm sure it's as bad or worse elsewhere but the local news is only talking about the local problems.

If anyone needs any suggestions on emergency standby power solutions, let me know. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

Woohoo! Passed our inventory audit, so we don't have to count...uh.....a crapload of items.

Looking forward to the end of this week, and the start of next week...other offsite guy is hunting for a few days, so I'm the main guy at offsite. It actually is kind of an escape, believe it or not.

And Scarlet: keep going through the association. Keep it on record/official/etc.

I didn't make it through our client's sales tax audit today. I knew I was done when I came back from lunch. It was all I could do to drive home and get to bed. And then, naturally, I couldn't fall asleep for 2 hours.

Good morning Ralph! ;)

Good morning to the rest of tLodge! ;)

Made it through the night and still have power. Now to figure out how bad it is out there and whether or not I'm going to attempt to go to work.

As I was taking our recyclables out tonight, I happened upon a stray 3 legged cat. Almost tripped over it a couple times, as it would not leave me alone and just kept meowing.

The security guy at my company says that if your password contains a word that can be found in the dictionary a hacker can figure it out in minutes..............

If you have a rainbow table for passwords of any length, you can break it in minutes. (I'm just catching up on lodge posts)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

I am thankful that I don't have to deal with the brunt of this storm. Happy that I don't have to worry about flooding. But dam it, it sucks to not have power. Getting ready for work when it is dark and the only light you have are flashlights and candles is difficult.

Luckily, work has power, and I can just plug in my crock pot and cook here for our potluck today.

Hope everyone is staying safe.

Howdy Lodge. Back at work this morning. Made it through the day yesterday with power. I didn't want to say anything for fear I would jinx it. It was ridiculously windy at times and later in the evening we got some very heavy rain. The fence around the pool lost some panels, but it's a plastic/fiberglass type of material and I think they can just pop back into place. All things considered, we were very fortunate.

Now I need to do three days of work in two days as I head out to North Dakota on Thursday. I hope. I know I'm booked on a flight but with all these cancellations, etc. I'm a bit anxious that I will have flight issues.

All the people with babies from cancelled flights will have priority to grab any extra seats. ;)
