At the Alma mater, they cancelled class for the next two days, sent everybody off campus or are housing those who can't go home on our ship at campus. Hope all of you in the mid Atlantic and northeast corridor stay safe.

Good Morning, Sandy!
According to local reports, we're supposed to start seeing her wrath over the next 3-4 hours. They're predicting 60-70 mph winds with gusts of 90+. As for rain, they're saying 1-3" since we're not really supposed to see any of the heavy rain bands. The biggest threat seems to be the storm and tidal surges along the coast.

I walked a block to the local Safeway to buy a cup of coffee in the Starbucks inside it. It was raining quite hard, but the wind didn't seem that bad. Since the Gummint has shut down, which means that many businesses that follow their lead are also closed, the street was fairly deserted. The wind is supposed to be picking up over the next several hours.

Edit: besides for whatever we get over the next two days, I expect a few days later the Potomac will flood from runoff upstream. I guess that Kepler doesn't read this thread although he is at Maxrep, but I suspect that the usual picture of flooded "downtown" Point of Rocks, MD, will appear.

Morning.

Pit is on the western edge of the 'action' area for this storm. Supposed to be windy, rain, and possibly power outages.

Morning Lodge. Hope all the eastern members stay safe and (relatively) dry.

I'm sure the firm that laid me off in March has shuttered the home office for the day. It's right on Madison Ave. in NYC. Some of the firms officers got flooded out the last time they shut the subways for a storm.

Jr's team won their first scrimmage of the season 5-0 and it wasn't that close. Jr got a save. Goalie was down, puck in the crease, everyone whacking away at it and he used his soccer skills to boot the puck out of the danger zone. He's skating at center this year.

You're kidding, right? SLU's practically on the edge of the high winds zone!

Good for Jr!

Haven't blown away yet although we are supposed to get gusts >60mph and 2+ inches of rain.

Happy Birthday Lady wore Black!

Why in the hell would you put mini-mites who have never skated out there on the ice together with 2nd year 5 year olds who could skate circles around them at the start of the season? Fortunately they will finally break them up for their next practice.

That being said, very proud of my mini-mite. He's not a great skater yet but he tried every drill as hard as he could even though he was clearly intimidated and a bit overwhelmed. Even scored his first goal ever in the small goal game they had set up. :D

Stay safe and dry out east!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

Good morning Lodge. Got the call at 6:00am that the office is closed. So, I shut off the alarm and went back to sleep. It's actually not doing much here now but they're threatening that it will get bad around midday. Probably could have made it in. As of now, the T is still running. However, they may suspend service later on and if I missed the announcement I would have been stuck.

So, I'm debating about going upstairs to yell at my neighbors. I had spoken with the contact at the condo association last Monday and she said she would send then a note about the noise. I had told her I didn't want to file a complaint, just wanted to let them know that they're being noisy in the off chance they might realize they're waking/keeping me up. It was not bad all week so I was thinking they got the note and were paying attention. Then last night, it was noisy again and I was woken up at 1:12am. I took my broom and hit my ceiling - I have been doing that a little bit, just to nudge them to know I heard them and to stop. Well, last night after I did that, they retaliated and I heard drawers slam, they dropped something metal, etc. I went up there and was ready to knock but chickened out. It sounded like they were opening their door so I ran down the stairs. Should I go up there today, since I'm home? Or should I contact the condo association to file an official noise complaint?

Was he pumping his fist on one knee during the celly? :D

My nephew (who plays defence) did that when he hit a one-timer for a EA GT.

Maybe he could help Drew Melanson. ;)

For the benefit of all non-RPI fans, here's the video of his celebration eariy this year in the USHL. :D
