That being said, very proud of my mini-mite. He's not a great skater yet but he tried every drill as hard as he could even though he was clearly intimidated and a bit overwhelmed. Even scored his first goal ever in the small goal game they had set up. :D

Nice! I love when you see a kid trying harder than he can skate. Really! My son had a girl on his mite team last year who skated all awkwardly, knees stiff, arms flying around -- but when the other team got a breakaway, she was the one who chased them down, every time. She was *not* going to let them get an easy breakaway goal.

Maybe he could help Drew Melanson. ;)
For the benefit of all non-RPI fans, here's the video of his celebration eariy this year in the USHL. :D

You want to celebrate with a special move? Play soccer. :p

Stay safe out there on the East Coast. Guess my parents moved to Houston in time. Many of my friends in Maryland have today and tomorrow off work.

Was he pumping his fist on one knee during the celly? :D

My nephew (who plays defence) did that when he hit a one-timer for a EA GT.

No, he's new to this whole thing so we'll have to work in it. Just a basic stick and arm in the air.

My 7 year old does the Rau dice roll when he scores almost every time, so my little guy has a pretty good teacher.

Cool! It definitely is fun to see. Very inspiring. My little guy knew he was going to fall almost every time but he kept at it. The funniest one was trying to see him slide under a bar on his belly. Went down too quick and couldn't get enough speed to make it under so he inchwormed his way under once he stopped.

In the last 15 minutes, it totally picked up. Very strong wind gusts and driving rain.

Looks like it's aimed right at the Jersey Shore...
Latest report has her making landfall at Atlantic City which is further south than originally predicted. That may mean only 75 mph winds (instead of 90+) here in southern CT. Time will tell. Currently we're at 35 mph sustained winds with gusts up to 55.

They're still most concerned about the tidal surge. High tide late this morning caused some moderate flooding. The next cycle is predicted to be "catastrophic".

At work we cancelled our 2nd and 3rd shifts and most people left before 2. I stayed around until 3 and just got home a bit ago. Driving wasn't bad since the governor closed the highways at 1:00 (trucks were banned at 11:00 am). Very windy but little rain. Lots of small branches in the road but I didn't see anything major on the ground.

Now that I'm home I'm just hoping we don't lose power.
