Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

I am thankful that I don't have to deal with the brunt of this storm. Happy that I don't have to worry about flooding. But dam it, it sucks to not have power. Getting ready for work when it is dark and the only light you have are flashlights and candles is difficult.

Luckily, work has power, and I can just plug in my crock pot and cook here for our potluck today.

Hope everyone is staying safe.
Powered flickered for a bit last night. Mom got a little excited about whether or not she could watch the end of Dancing with the Stars for a bit, but then it popped back on. I was kind of nervous about that because I still had a bunch of notes to do and its all online, so that could have screwed me there. Quite a few branches and trees down here and along US-12. The one that did kind of surprised me though was this old tree that's part of a fence here for one of our pastures that's been leaning up against another walnut tree for a few years now. All of that blowing wind, and that sucker is still right there.

There was power out between Adrian and Tecumseh, and tonight when I left my parents' place, the power was out at 52 and 12. This morning's commute was downright ****ty. 35 degrees, sleet, and dark as hell, so you really couldn't get a feel for road conditions.

My verizon email is not working. At first I thought it was my Outlook but now Lil and I both can't get on email. POOP!! I have an email that needs to get out tonite to the whole team about potluck Thursday. Stink!!

I've been having similar issues.

Yeah, I saw that white stuff outside on the barn roof this morning, strongly thought about rolling back over into bed. thankfully, I didn't need to get going until ten, so the roads had a chance to warm up a little bit.

I actually thought the exam went really well today. Man has this been a long week this far. Back to the library to finish up prep for my geology exam tomorrow.

Please send good vibes to Lodge member DrDemento. He doesn't post in tLodge much if at all, but obviously still reads at least some of this since he votes in the polls.

He lives in New Jersey very near the coast and must have been affected by Sandy. He hasn't posted on any of the RPI threads since Monday morning.

Good Morning Lodge. Hope everyone survived Sandy and the planes are flying out of Logan for Scarlet.

Back to the library to finish up prep for my geology exam tomorrow.

Igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic. What more is there?

How we get there, mid ocean ridges, volcanoes, tectonic plates, blah blah blah.

Just trudging through this week. Right after things settle just a little bit, I have to head to work after the test. Woo!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #157: Hockey Watching Habits

We have a project here that involves a company to develop our code that's based in NJ, near NYC. For this project we have just been given a new project manager and she's trying to assert her control and put her stamp on things. The project outline shows a deadline of 11/5 for some computer code due to us here. In a meeting today, and in all seriousness, the project manager says, "And if (contractor) doesn't have that code to us by Friday next week, I'm going to put him in deep water." Immediately I reply, "I think he's already in deep water and that's the problem we're facing right now." Then the PM replies, "Oh, right."

Idiot woman.
