Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Good Morning Lodge.

So how much money does the surprise kid's parents make?;)

Can't be too disappointed with B2, that's a B1 team in 95 percent of the associations around the state.

I don't think there was money involved, the surprise kids are big though. I'm struggling with the tendency in bantams to go for size over skill. There are two pretty good, solid d-men who know where to be and are good skaters who lost out to big, clumsy kids who get out of position. One of those kids is going to be on my kid's team. This 9th grader must be 6'-3 or 4. Not good feet though. I'd rather have either of the other two kids myself. At least jr's team will have an awesome team manger and an awesome treasurer.;)

One real surprise for those who know anything about youth hockey in MN is Belows' kid is back. He enrolled at SSM this year and was going to play for their Tier 1 team. Last Sunday he was there to watch his buddies skate and yesterday he skated with the top group and is on the AA team. BTW, the PW group is ridiculous this year. Choske's kid only made a B1 team, along with Brian Lawton's kid. John Madden's kid is on the AA team. Tom Never's kid is on the A. The kids coming up from squirts have NEVER LOST A GAME since they started traveling.

Morning.

Went to see an opera this weekend. It was good, you know, for an opera.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Good Morning, Lodge!

Battling a head cold today. I hope today is slow at work.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Things I've learned from reading through the sports web sites this morning.

Gopher football had a week off, so they are still 4-1!.
Gopher hockey scored 7 goals against some crappy Canadian team.
Gopher basketball has Duke coming to Williams Arena in November. They play Richmond and Florida State as well in NC games.
The Minnesota Lynx are back in the WNBA Finals, after sweeping LA.
The Chicago Bears are 4-1 after scoring 41 points this weekend.
The Washington Nationals first playoff appearance began well with a road win at St. Louis.

Morning, Lodge. And Happy Bday to . . . les' twin?

Went to see an opera this weekend. It was good, you know, for an opera.

Must have been Rigoletto; you're in Pittsburgh, right? They've got a good company. And if you have to see a Verdi opera, at least Rigoletto gets you out in under four hours. And it's got the Pillsbury breadstick song! :p

One of the sites I visit must have mistaken me for mookie. The banner ads this am are for hot asian women dating sites.

4 hours....at an opera?
I don't understand how people hate themselves so much that they would do that. It is sad.

I wouldn't have guessed you were "in the know" about operas and various opera companies. It was Rigoletto. It was only 2-2.5 hours and had 2 intermissions included in that time. It really didn't need the 2nd intermission. The last 2 acts were only 30 min each.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Could have been worse. Could have been 4 hours of country music.

Baziiiiiing! :)

Happy Monday kids. With one co-worker on a two-week Italian vacation and another about to go on maternity leave, I'm getting pulled into two very cool program/sponsorships to assist with. Yay!!

This is why everyone hates the cakeaters;)

Morning all. Hoping for a very productive day.

67 is the high today but it's cloudy and windy, slight chance of rain. Man do we need rain.

Well, it can't compete with circling a crop field in a combine for four hours, but then again what can?

My first job out of college was as an accountant for The Washington Opera in DC. I got to know the repertoire, the different companies -- regional and national --, how to act cool when Placido Domingo dropped by to say hi to his old friend (my boss), etc. I also got to really enjoy it. Not all of it, but most.

Just wait til mookie gets on here -- he's the real opera pro. Brain . . . can't . . . reconcile . . . conflicting images! . . . :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Oh, and since this is Teh Lodge, I should add: Domingo got all the women. It was unbelievable. The man has it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Props to Lethbridge for coming out here year after year and getting spanked. They face UNO next.

In 2008, I think, Lethbridge only lost 2-1. I was at that game. The Gophers have come a long, long way since then.
