Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

I understand your point.;) interesting though, as we close all tryouts to players and coaches only.
That absolutely floored me the first time I saw it at Super Rink. The Blaine association was holding tryouts when I was running downstairs to get my skates sharpened. They even had the windows from the observation areas covered in paper. Parents need to get a grip.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

So tonight I am at the Target pharmacy getting some drugs for little g. I am waiting in line to pick up the stuff. There is a woman in front of me being really slow and pokey at the cash register. I mean really slow and pokey. I could tell the Target employee at the register was not impressed and the six or seven people behind me were also getting restless. The woman turns and says "oh I almost forgot" and walks about ten feet and grabs a shopping cart full of shiat. I recognized the woman as Mary Franson. (She is a Minnesota Republican politician and a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives who represents District 11B. I do not have any affiliation to any party but she is an idiot who has gone on record many times by stating idiotic things. She is a Michelle Bachman wanna be.) So anyways, she is still being pokey and it is taking a long time. Most people would have taken their cart with so many items to the actual check out. As she fished things up she turned and looked at me and stated "I am sorry." To which I relied " based on your past political commentary these actions don't surprise me." About ten people bursted out laughing. Good stuff. :)

FWIW. Little g has a bad cold. Nothing else.

So, did any of you go see Taken 2 tonight? I did. Was your theater completely full like the theater I was at? And if you went to this R-rated action movie with lots of explosions and violent stuff in a completely full theater, was there also a baby there in a car seat because the parents were too ****ing full of themselves to find a babysitter or just stay in and rent a movie? Just me? OK.

Maybe this was a good thing... it could have broken the plane baby scenario for you!

No wonder I couldn't sleep. I'd felt a disturbance in the Force.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

I just woke up on a billiards table.

Currently trying to decide whether or not I will stay up or not.

Oh hell, I better find out where my friends' place is first. Good thing I magically found my coat that I haven't seen in seven months.

What the **** did I do last night? So confused. Updates to come later. I'm sure my friends will gave some neat anecdotes. Oy.

Didn't look to see who posted this until I hit the baby part then I didn't need to look. Poor Scarlet. You need to be more proactive- maybe you should sit next to the parents and cry/wail the whole time? (my first thought was the kid is going to have hearing loss if they do that too much. The decibel level in theatres is ridiculous.)

ah, but who or what was next to you.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Good Morning, Lodge!

Craft Fair today in Inver Grove Heights. This one I usually do well.

gmann: That was a brilliant comment. Hope lil' g and the rest of you family gets better.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

Good Morning Lodge.

MNS at a hotel with a girl?????????:eek::eek::eek:

SOH waking on a billiards table is completely expected, but MNS and a girl? Weird stuff last night.

gmann, glad to hear lil g only has a cold. Hope he shakes it quick, Jr has been fighting his for a week. It hurt him in tryouts last night as he clearly ran out of gas in later shifts and he said it was hard to breathe.

Hockey tonight! Exhibition, but still.

I'm seriously thinking about going over to about the 5-6 mile mark tomorrow to see if I can spot Bob in the marathon. Does anyone know his bib number?

Actually, the baby didn't cry (though there was a squeak or two). I was just amazed that parents think "This baby isn't going to ruin our social life. We'll just take him/her everywhere we go, even if it's wildly inappropriate and it affects others around us." An R rated action movie at night is no place for a 3-month old, is it?

No, no it's not.

And Taken 2...awesome.

bbdl talked to the bartender, and she let him plug in his laptop at the bar for his fantasy college hockey draft, and then we asked the bartender if we could leave our tabs open while we went to the movie (yes we could). Splurged for VIP at the movie so we could keep drinking (man, nice seats in VIP). Came back, drank. I go out for a smoke close to bar close, ended up chatting with one of the security guys. Then I started getting the "don't leave, MNS has a girl!" texts. Fine.

Finally I see MNS and girl exit bar, we exchange knowing glances. bbdl and Biddco exit soon after, we decide to hang out in the ramp by bbdl's truck, juuuuuust in case MNS doesn't end up, well, elsewhere. 10-15 minutes later, the security guy I was chatting with earlier was making his rounds, sees us, and wonders WTeff. I told him the situation, he starts laughing and making jokes with us, and tells us to take care and drives off.

Unfortunately, about an hour later (maybe? I lost track of time) MNS ended up back at Chez Rube. I'll let him tell the missing details.

'Twas a good night.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #156: The Ultimate Showdown

When it takes 12 hours to travel between them on Amtrak yet?
That's what took the life out of me. Between the ride from Holland to Chicago and then Chicago to the Twin Cities, it was 12 hours either on a train or waiting for one.

By the way, I'm grateful for the food court in Union Station. I was able to avoid paying ridiculously high prices for food on the train.

And I've visited the mills, Mall of America, Minnehaha Falls, and got to see the Metrodome, Target Field, and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. Hoping either today or tomorrow I can get over to Matt's Bar or Gasthof's.
