Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #155: Back to School

Good Morning Lodge.

OK, so jr didn't suck as bad at bowling as I thought. I walked in while he was having a bad game. His first game wasn't bad and one of the better by the freshman bowlers. We may need to get his own ball. His hand is so small that any balls at the lane that fit his hand are for real little kids and super light. Also, apparently the lane balls don't perform very well. All the varsity bowlers have their own balls, and most of the jv.

Bowling ball, bag, towel and shoes are a minimum investment if he's going to compete regularly. You should expect any average quality ball to run $100+.

Other possible needs. Liquid skin, hand brace, shoe spray, and whatever the rubber inserts for the bowling ball holes are called.

Good Morning, Lodge!

I might need to borrow Hammer's shovel again. I don't know why they won't fire my co-worker that drives me bonkers. She is worthless and doesn't know a dam thing.

Don't know if he'll compete regularly. This is, thankfully, a very short season. He should be done in October. They have practice Mon and Wed, JV bowls Thurs and varsity Fri. Don't think he'll ever compete this year as a frosh. Maybe next year if he works at it.

Good morning Lodge. Already starting out to be a typical Tuesday, based on my commute in this morning. Blech.

BUT! While on the T and reading my People Magazine, I saw a sidebar interview with Gangham Style guy Psy where he mentions that he went to college at Berklee College of Music and....wait for it.........Boston University. HA HA!! I just sent a note via Twitter to the alumni association. They need to get this guy on campus.

Really? I can't think of a song of his that you would like, unless I'm missing something.

Doesn't he sing "Take My Drunk Arse Home"?

And Scarlet, I feel your pain about Tuesdays. I've been having them, too.

Ah, yeah, he does. And that would make sense.

That song never even charted for him. I don't think it was ever released as a single, and it isn't on any of his actual albums. But he did sing it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #155: Back to School

Back to civilization today after spending the weekend camping in a tent with both boys. Well sort of. Friday was fun. Woke up Saturday morning to 30 degrees but the boys thought it was awesome that they could see their breath when they woke up. Our camping trip made a little detour Saturday night though. There was a group camping about 50 yards away and they were partying pretty good Saturday evening/Sunday morning. About 20 loud people and even louder music. Both boys were tossing and turning and eventually they got up and they were fussy. I grabbed the boys and some other essential items and we took off and checked into a hotel. It was about 2:30 am. Good times.

Yikes. Sorry it turned out that way. At least it'll be a funny story in a few years. Maybe 10. Maybe 20. :o

Jeff Megall: Sony has a futuristic sci-fi movie they're looking to make.
Nick Naylor: Cigarettes in space?
Jeff Megall: It's the final frontier, Nick.
Nick Naylor: But wouldn't they blow up in an all oxygen environment?
Jeff Megall: Probably. But it's an easy fix. One line of dialogue. 'Thank God we invented the... you know, whatever device.'

And Nick gives the hand wave along with it, like, "Yeah, sure, whatever. Great." Awesome movie, awesome scene.

BU: Our campus is uglier, but our people are cooler.

:D

Something interesting for you engineers and fellow tech geeks of the lodge. May have to pledge this project, seems really really neat.

Interesting indeed, and LED lightbulbs are the next big thing. Not sure if I want my lightbulb to have an app though, just a switch. :p

Oppam Cambridge style! :D

Afternoon, Lodge.

Yep. I'm considering it, although I already have 2 potential lights that I can control as part of my security system (2 outlets that are always "on" but I can activate remotely via app or while in the house)

The first thing I thought of, which is why I thought it was ridiculous :p, was theme lighting for parties. The more I think about it though, the more I can think of possibilities for that style of bulb - changing lighting subtly from warm light (relaxing) to cool (workspace) throughout the day (maybe even automatically), setting it to turn on in the morning to wake my arse up :p without having to install a separate timer, adjusting the light to make a particularly hideous paint scheme less obnoxious, lol.

And yes, for having lightswitch raves. :d

The possibilities for those lights are amazing. Obviously it is being seen as a very awesome idea, almost 700k raised after a goal of 100k. They'll get a nice buy out from GE or some bulb manufacturer some day and be set for life.

Thank me later ;)
