Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #154: Olympics

Good Morning Lodge.

Jr starts his new school today. Had parent night last night and learned he knows at least one kid in three of his classes. I just don't know if I can ever get used to him wearing the evil RED color. :(

What's wrong with red? Half my wardrobe is red.

Good morning Lodge. Happy Monday!!

School starts this week? I thought it was a rule that school can't start until after the fair is over? We haven't even had the last fair encampment yet!

Hey, how did your guys do in your last game at the Miken cup? Jr's team won it, but he only played in the first game and got injured in it. We beat in OT in the finals the NoDak team who beat your 97s 9-8 or something.

We won that one. It was unfortunate though, we had a kid break a collarbone, great kid and player, hard worker.

Morning all!

Back to the class grind this week..

On the bright side, it's game week:)

Better he gets it out of his system in HS, than really rebels and wears it in college.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #154: Olympics

My son chose red for after HS, but it wasn't The Evil Empire.
Go Johnnies! :)

Many schools starting this week, including Minneapolis public IIRC. My daughter starts tomorrow (CDH).
Not sure what happened to that rule/law...

I think the rule is; if your school has a 4H program you can't start till after Labor Day. No 4 H at BSM.

Almsy has it right!

I believe that school districts can request a waiver from the state to allow them to start before Labor Day. I assume that private schools are either exempt from the law or can also request a waiver.

As long as he doesn't wear green after HS. (Because we can all agree that he shouldn't get a higher quality education in HS than he would in college) :p

Ok, that would make sense.

Where I'm from, it is just not feasible to have school start before the fair is over, because the FFA encampment is Labor Day weekend. I would guess that any school with an FFA program would not be able to start early.

St. Paul Public will never start prior to Labor Day. It would be a nightmare to run the busses in the neightborhoods and to the schools surrounding the fairgrounds. I would guess the same is true for Roseville Schools.

Meh. It's a nightmare to run buses in St. Paul anyway with the way the drunken Irishmen laid out the streets. :p

Good morning Lodge.

Little g had his first baseball game yesterday. He went 4-4 with two doubles and 6 RBIs. (everyone bats and gets to home plate and no outs are recorded.)

The experience is quite humbling though. Over half of the people who participate are in wheel chairs and the vast majority of those individuals have no clue where they are. The others who are physcially able also have little to no conecpt of what is going on around them. Always reminds me of how grateful we are that little g is who he is because he very well could have been one of those kids in a wheel chair with no clue about the world around them.

Way to go g's! I remember when we found out my dauhter has a lazy eye and spent the day at the MN department of Ophthalmology. We were bummed out until we walked past Pediatric Oncology and realized it could be much, much, much worse.

Meh. It's a nightmare to run buses in St. Paul anyway with the way the drunken Irishmen laid out the streets. :p

And God bless them for that!

You'd think it'd keep out the vagrants, but that's just not the case. To that point, GE can't seem to find his way out of the city.

The world's greatest trophy made an appearance at the global HQ for Tacky & Abrasive today. :)
Sadly, I had a meeting and could not get down to see it. :(
