Exactly. Often the first impression we form of other people comes from the first communication we have from them. Often that is a written communication - an e-mail, a resume, a cover letter, etc. My wife has reviewed literally thousands of resumes in her roles. Many get put directly in the "no" pile due to poor grammar as this woman displayed.

English focus is overrated. At least from my perspective as a techie. I realized in college I could barely write a paper unless it was filled with equations and proofs. But I guess the rules should be different for teachers. That makes sense.

and on that segue, i'll recap today's 'war of the roses':

local mix 104.1 every thursday at 812a does a thing where some suspicious soul calls the station and asked them to see if their partner is cheating. the radio calls the would be cheater and claims to be a cell company and wants to send a dozen roses to someone of their choosing free of charge.

today a woman (no surprise) calls and asked to have them get in touch with her boyfriend of two years. she thinks he is cheating on her with her best friend.

station calls chas. he takes the bait. and yup, sends them to gf's bff! gf yells! dude is confused, thought he was getting free flowers.... gf asks, "have you been sleeping with her?".. chas says, "just that one time.." gf yells "i can't believe it". chas says, "what?!? you knew. you were there. IT WAS YOUR IDEA." :D :D :D :D gf says, "yeah, but that was for your birthday. i felt comfortable with her!"

If you know that your gf is unstable enough to call a show like that, she's unstable enough to assume that if you did send her flowers out of the blue that you were guilty of something.

To quote a character from "Rules of Engagement" about the last time the topic came up...

"I got one less never!"

So that either means she's a tease or there's a glimmer of hope.... or maybe she already has the good divorce lawyer.

I just got fired from my job. Between this and failing out of the Culinary Institute of Michigan, this has NOT been a good year.

And once again, the misery of Hay season is upon me. Our supplier just called and is out baling hay right now. Need to get out of here and go get some fresh gloves.

And no attempt was made to inform you of the complaints and allow for you to improve performance before termination, i.e. a performance review?

This sounds fishy. Methinks they've been wanting you out and this was their excuse. I'd be contacting HR or your union rep if you have one. If you've had nothing but favorable performance reviews in the past before you were fired, present them. Did they terminate several people or just you?

Is some country band playing at a church, or what?

ETA: Got another interview with a different firm tomorrow now. Just got a call from another recruiter. This is a little bit closer to home but it's a contractor versus a consultant. It's in New Hope.

Yeah, and I'm with Twitchboy on that Bob. You did say something about looking for another job earlier on facebook a day or two ago. I doubt they would have moved just that fast with it, but I would think that they might have had a feeling you was looking anyways. Plus, you might have been coming up on some bonus or pay increase as well. My money is that they find it cheaper to train somebody new to do your job than what it is to pay you that extra nickle in your paycheck.

Good afternoon Lodge.

Stained from 6 am until 8 am this morning. Almost done. Just have the kids playset to stain. Between power washing and prepping and such this is the last time I am staining the deck and porch. Awesome product though. Sikkens. I highly recommend it.
