Morning Lodge

This poll is ten items or less and does not accept checks.

In keeping with a theme here, "ten items or fewer." :p

Going up to the firm who made me the offer this morning. Going to check the commute and get some things in their offer clarified.

I must confess, it has been a while since I have been to Church, late last August, to be exact. But tonight that changes, I will be at Church this evening and it will be glorious.

Dang my shoulder hurts again. Oh wait, no it doesn't. It feels perfectly fine, 100%. Next thing ya know we'll be hearing rubbish that massages can cure hangovers.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #150: Everyone sucks... except Scarlet

Depends what she looks like. :D
Well now, that kind of massage is something I could endorse. Happy endings, FTW.

edit: disclaimer: For other people, as I am in a happy relationship. :p (can't get myself into trouble)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #150: Everyone sucks... except Scarlet

Oh. My. God.

I just got an e-mail from a woman who is student teaching in my son's 8th grade English class. She uses an apostrophe where none is needed (plural, not possessive) and mixes singular and plural in a sentence. Don't people in the teaching department have to take Freshman Composition anymore? She is going to help teach my son how to write?

All of the English classes today are designed for literature. I wanted to take language and composition, but it wasn't offered.

I'm confused. Why the disclaimer? Couldn't your girlfriend provide the massage with the Happy Ending?

I have seen a few express lane signs with the correction made on them, in one case with a Post-it note.

It took me less than 20 minutes, when leaving my garage at 7 AM to drive the 16.2 miles to the prospective new office. Not much different than my old job downtown. I essentially trade about 8 blocks of downtown streets with lights and some traffic for 7 miles of freeway if it happens.

If I make this move, I will have to start some serious research on phones, tablets and plans for same. They have a $2,000/yr technology allowance for such things. I like that better than just having a company phone as was the cse in the last three jobs. I get to choose in this case. I know this - No More Crapberry!

Oh, I suppose she could. I thought we were talking about professional happy ending providers like monster.

The technology allowance thing sounds like a pretty damm good deal. I'm with you on the sentiment about ditching the blackberry. Mine was junk, switched to Droid, and I don't see myself ever going back, as the Droids have been amazing so far. My company only provides blackberries to the higher-ups, and regular phones to people on the road all the time (sales people and service people, for example) which I technically don't qualify for, even though I travel all the damm time. So I just use my personal phone, and have an app to get my work email on my personal droid. On top of that my supervisor told me that if I ever go over my minutes because of work calls, to just tack it on to an expense report and he'd approve it, so it isn't like I'm spending any extra money to use my personal phone for work. I imagine with the work you do, a tablet could come in pretty useful...

edit: As for the english/grammar topic, when I was in high school, the teachers that I had for literature/composition classes were complete *****es, but they really did know and require correct grammar. I can't imagine a teacher in that kind of role not having good grammar. How does he or she even get hired? That would be like an algebra teacher not knowing how to do long division.

She is a student teacher right now. I'm concerned that she got most of the way through some teaching program with an English focus and still writes an e-mail like that to us parents. And that she is supposed to be teaching the final unit in my son's class.

Even if she is teaching the correct grammar, and just doesn't use it in certain situations, like that email, she has to understand that sending out an email like that, to that audience, has a huge impact on the impression people have of her. Even if she understands grammar, she has no understanding of the way the world works with regards to cultivating a positive impression of herself from other stakeholders' point of view.
