S'upp y'all

Curious and if you don't mind me asking............what does it cost you to get a haircut on the right coast? I pay $20.00 which includes a $7.00 tip.

When I worked in NYC I usually stayed in Manhattan. I was blown away when I went in for a haircut and it came to $50.00.

I went to a girls salon type place and it was $20 because I was a new customer.. Usually $25. I know this girl from her, ah, night job so I tipped her another $20. But this was outside of Boston- up near les' neighborhood.

-- yes Dave, I got that too (she would blend in well where you lived).

Morning.

Rained pretty much all night last night. Then stopped when I had to leave for work. Thanks! :D

Hopefully there is no delay for my flight on Friday night due to weather. Sposed to be rain the rest of this week.

Good morning Lodge.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #150: Everyone sucks... except Scarlet

It can easily cost that much in the twin cities as well - it all depends on where you go. I've been to a place where the regular stylists charge $30-35 (depending on experience), and it costs $50 to get a cut from the owner. At the other extreme, you've got places like Great Clips which probably charge in the $10-15 range. It really boils down to whether or not you need your hair "styled" or simply go in and have them rely on the electric trimmer mostly to buzz it. If you're doing the latter, just go somewhere cheap; if you need something a bit more complicated than that done, then you have to pay more to get good results.
Why would a guy need to go to a stylist, unless he's queer? I think I pay too much at Great Clips. I'm used to $9 hair cuts from an actual barber not some stylist or beauty school dropout.

Since I have had the same barber for the last 15 years, I pay whatever their rate is. It started out fairly cheap, but now it is $27 (+ tip). Although I do get free clean up work done whenever I want inbetween haircuts.

I am fine with that because of the long history. Plus, I am only getting 1 more haircut from them and then I have to find a new person. :(

Good morning lodge. It is a beautiful rainy day here in the cities. I've got the day off but I have to work in the evening today. hopefully I can get some stuff done around the house.

That's what I did when I used to pay. Old Italian guy in the north end. Haircut, straight edge shave in the chair. Then he retired...

Sadly, as a girl living in Boston, 50$ is cheap. When I worked at the law firm and was getting my hair cut regularly, it was running me about 75$ a haircut from my regular guy for haircut and gossip about the BU hockey team - he cut the team's hair (plus another 75$ to have it highlighted with scarlet tones). Now, in New Hampster, it runs significantly cheaper. I pay 30$, plus tip.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #150: Everyone sucks... except Scarlet

I should just cut it myself. I could pull it off. I'm good with a clipper, I fit all of my, my sister's and my cousins' steers/heifers at all the shows, including 4 Grand Champions.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #150: Everyone sucks... except Scarlet

The woman I usually go to at home only charges 10 or so for an electric trimmer type job, usually I'll give her 20. Close family friend, and she discounts it for us to begin with. I couldn't imagine spending 30-50 for a haircut.

I pay $18 but everything is pricey around here... Rather efficient though... Usually have 4-5 people at the same time. I figure it's Arlington. I do this back home and it's $12

So, that's what the DC'ers are calling it these days. Ralph, can you validate? ;)

MAN is that relaxing.

I used to go to an old Italian guy too, when I lived in DC -- real old-school barbershop, with the barbicide, and the hot lather and straight razor on your neck, and Playboys discretely underneath the newspapers. A vanishing world, I tell you!

Why would a guy need to go to a stylist, unless he's queer?

Says the man who wears heels all weekend long. :p What is this, 1957? Sheesh. I'd worry more about them heifers you been shaving.

Edit. Took both the boys to get cut last night. Summer buzz cuts. Both cuts cost $10.00 total. I gave her a $20.00. (Both kids myself and Mrs. g see the same stylist.)

FWIW in the last week little g has lost both front teeth.
