Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #149 - Best adaptation of a movie title-and the lodgie goes

We just received notice at the office - we're getting an extra 4 hours of PTO this year because we met X% participation in the annual employee survey. There are two more levels to hit, at 95% we will have a "casual" July - jeans permitted, and at 97% we would get to wear shorts on Fridays during July. I'm sort of hoping we don't hit 97%; there are women here who make me look small - the Waddlers especially.

The company I interviewed with today surprised me a little by 3 of the 4 guys I talked to having ties on. I am so used to that industry going casual (except when meeting clients) that I figured most offices were more relaxed. Glad I wore a tie and jacket, but it makes me even less likely to work there.

I very rarely see ties and jackets at work. The only time I would ever see it is when the very high levels of management are wearing them, and even then I don't ever remember a jacket, but ties are common. As for the rest of us regular engineers, standard would be khakis and a button down shirt or golf shirt.

Good Morning Lodge.

Is "Get a job in Pittsburgh" crossed off your list?

Mavsy, If I were a porspective employer I'd be worried about "how dumb is this kid?" for getting a public consumption and underage consumption in Madison. :p Are you still wondering about CE? Do you want me to put in touch with some practicing CEs?
that would be beneficial. Sorry I haven't emailed, I've been crazy busy. I have decided, as of now, to continue on the path towards civil engineering.

I have an offer! Senior associate, and it is direct hire instead of contract. Almost a 20% pay cut from my last job, but I knew that was coming, also located in Roseville. Not a bad drive in mid-day, but I may have to drive up there Thursday or Friday during rush to see what it's like. Now to wait and see what the guys today have to offer.

The worst part of that drive is that there isn't a good way to get there, other than driving directly through downtown for you.

Well, I've been going in to arrive by 7:30 AM for the past several years and at that time the I35W-I94 split is not too bad at all.

Congratulations! Now maybe you can hire back that butler for your house there in Cakeaterland.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #149 - Best adaptation of a movie title-and the lodgie goes

Need some advice, Lodge.

I got a little postcard in the mail, one that you have to break the seal and unfold it to see what it says inside. Inside there is a check for $18.04, and it says that it is from Foreign Currency Fee Litigation Settlement Fund, and lists a website. The check looks legit, and I read all of the fine print to see if there is any "if this check is redeemed...blah, blah, blah" type clauses, didn't find any. Is this legit? Should I cash it, or does this seem like some kind of scam?

i think that was a visa class action thingy... of course, if you were never out of the country and charged anything before your recent swing into the blonde countries, you could be setting up a withdrawal from a nigerian princess!!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #149 - Best adaptation of a movie title-and the lodgie goes

I got the same check several months ago. It was legit.

IIRC correctly, I applied about five years earlier. You may have forgotten. The minimum payment was supposed to be $25 but that was reduced due to lawyers fees. One could have applied for more with documentation, but most people that I knew didn't bother.

Edit: I just checked, I also got $18.04. It was in late December last year.

yeah, what FRalph said

Good Morning lodge. My shoulder hurts like hell, slept on it wrong and now it feels all cramped up. Oh well, I'll walk it off. (and no Monster, I'm not getting a ****ing massage)

Only a couple more days before the big concert I've been waiting for for about 6 months...then probably going to see Lost Highway at TK's Friday night. Good times, good times.
Try it, it might fix your shoulder up so that you're not bellyaching about it ya big baby. :p

JFC do chronic coughers annoy me. I will stab someone, and soon!
Got a coworker who has been doing that lately, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up when he does that.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #149 - Best adaptation of a movie title-and the lodgie goes

I'm having a Scarlet Tuesday today.

Getting whupped at work (the returns guy and I receive product for the first half of the day, then I ship it out for the second half). Instead of one full trailer per night, we're getting two trailers per night this week, and we're really not getting any additional time to put the stuff away.

And then I come home to find that a longtime friend's SIL died in a car crash in Massachusetts last night. She was 26. :(

Edit: talking with my friend, I guess the dad got a call from the police saying it was one car, one body. They couldn't even ID her at the scene it was that bad, and called the dad since it was her car. :(

Just dropped the new hard drive into the laptop. Now to see whether it works, or if I just lit $500 on fire.

At that price point, just get a new laptop. They're dirt cheap now thanks to the rise of tablets/the iPad.

I paid $500 for this one. The hard drive was under warranty. I wrecked this one putting the new hard drive in.
