Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #149 - Best adaptation of a movie title-and the lodgie goes

I had to drop the girlfriend off at the airport early this morning, so I'm already sitting at my desk, have been for about 30 minutes. Now I get to leave early this afternoon.
Try it, it might fix your shoulder up so that you're not bellyaching about it ya big baby. :p
You know what else fixed my shoulder? Sucking it up and dealing with it. It doesn't hurt anymore. I don't need any of you snakeoil salesmen.

Rub some dirt on it and walk it off.

There has never been better medical advice. People are becoming giant pansies these days.

Ah, the wisdom of a 20something. ;)

Let's see what you think about massages and taking proper care of minor injuries when you hit 40. :p

My dad and grandpa would tell you the same thing and they're 49 and 72.

My dad and grandpa would tell you the same thing and they're 49 and 72.

I would say they are either quite lucky, or lying. :p

I know lots of folks my age, or older and 90% of them have some chronic physical ailment that limits their activities in some way that is generally the result of some old injury that wasn't properly treated. Whether it was my dad with all his leg, hip and back troubles from a dislocated hip in high school football that was not properly reset, or my mom's bursitis in her shoulder from a header she took while speed skating in high school, my own knees and ankle from stuff I did to them playing volleyball and racquetball in college, none of which were treated properly or given time to heal properly. We all "rubbed dirt on it and walked it off" and later we had a hard time walking as a result.;) I'm having lunch today with a high school buddy who recently had back surgery to fix a disc he damaged in a motorcycle wreck in high school and didn't properly rehab when it happened. I can go on like this all day with stories of old injuries that people now suffer from.

I'm sure they have their nicks and pains, but if you asked them if they'd do it any differently, they'd say no, because that's the way it is. You can't take time to rehab something when the cows are hungry.

edit: also, gotta get the hay up when its dry, can't wait to feel a little better if the rain is rolling in

You're just not paying attention to it right now, that's all.

Toss em a couple of haybales, and find an MT who doesn't mind it that much if you come in smelling like a barn. Probably you can find one, but they would probably want you to come in at the end of the day just so that their other clients don't go, "What's that smell??"

Speaking of work, just kind of sitting here right now hoping the rest of my schedule would fill up some. I'm there from 1 til 8 today, but only have two so far on the schedule at the end of the day. The weather is being too nice once again.

1. How could I not be paying attention to it, I've been talking about it all morning on here. It isn't like its in the back of my mind.
2. You don't understand how a dairy farm works.
3. If you tried to get the old farmers I know to go to a massage place, you'd get laughed out of the building
