Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Nothing going on at work... all i really want to do is set up for next weekend... hotel, plane tickets, rampage plans, etc.

I keyed out one scenario last night where it looked like an effective Michigan-Minnesota-Lowell-MTU bracket... of course a lot of miracles would need to happen for that one. I know the other Lowell fans don't want to, but I really want to head out west. Bridgeport is a dump and Worcester I've done before a million times.
I just realized that this is impossible. Both Tech and Minnesota are hosts. Minnesota has to be in St. Paul, and if Tech pulls off the miracle, they'd be the 4th seed in Green Bay.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

The biggest miracle being that MTU wins the Broadmoor. :p
If that happens, I'll be furious, because I'll be in Sweden and unable to see Tech play in the NCAA's. I don't think I have much to worry about, it would take an incredible run to get there.

If by some sub-1% chance this comes to pass, I think you can be assured that it wouldn't be the last trip to the NCAAs in the Mel Pearson era.

That said, I'm not holding my breath. :p We'll be lucky to beat Denver.

Flooding in Grand Forks already?

I'm contemplating getting a hotel room downtown Friday night, but it is expensive, since there aren't many rooms left. I'm thinking that if there's a group, we could get 5-6 in a room and it would be reasonable for everyone. Anyone else interested? I don't really want to drive downtown both Thursday and Friday nights, and stay sober so I can drive home both nights.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Also, by being a lodge member and a CCHA fan does it mean my team is destined to loose to BGSU (especially since we play them next)?

No. You'll rout BG just to pound it up our poophole a little further.

I go to lunch today. I grab the sports page while I'm waiting. Page 1 is missing. What is the first thing I see at the top of the page? The headline: "Bowling Green upsets Ferris State in OT". I can't get away from this ****.

I'm still ****ed.

Great. The king of all **********s posted in the Tech thread. Is it too much to ask for him to have a fatal heart attack?

Hmmmm. Intriguing.

If we get 2 more, it would be reasonable. The only place with a room as of when I posted that first post was Crown Plaza, and it was $220 /night, we can try to get it cheaper with name your own price, since it is the only one listed for downtown, there wouldn't be much risk in name your own price, though it probably won't be successful.

220 a night is 'expensive'?

Evening, Lodge. There's a woman who's "adopted" me ever since my mom passed away, and today she helped me update my wardrobe. Question is, what can I give her? I don't think flowers and candy would cut it...

A nice card with a heartfelt letter would be beautiful. You can give stuff but something like that is a keepsake that gives the warm fuzzies for a long time.

Completely off the top of my head? A gift card somewhere that you know she likes. And make her dinner.

I agree that flowers and candy are inappropriate here.

There's a nice set of storms headed here shortly. Probably nothing much other than some thunder and lightning, but since it jumped into the 60's all of a sudden, and we're looking low 70's in a couple days, you can't be sure.
