I found out where I'll be going in Sweden. And you people think I live in the boonies...check this place out: Hortlax, Sweden

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 144: (Lack of) Winter Wonderland

Impatiently awaiting word from a friend about an open position where she works. It is what I would love to do. Not saying I wouldn't complain about the borring paperwork parts of it...but would enjoy most of it.
A couple of other interviews on the horizon. All of this is making it very difficult to focus and care about the current job.

Well it had to happen, 5 Guys has inspired a clone http://www.zburger.com/, and one opened last week a block from where I live. IMO, not as good and no free peanuts, but it does have milk shakes which I did not try. Thankfully the fries didn't taste as good as at 5 Guys, as my heart will appreciate it. :)

Good luck! I just got a call from a place where I interviewed - the HR lady was extremely impressed with my interview skills and accomplishments, and regretted that she had to hire someone else. :p

Also, if anyone wants a history and etymology lesson, check out the SIOUX DAMMIT thread. I promise, that's the last serious thing I'll post there. :o

Urge to kill rising....

I talked with my former employer in the middle of January to find out when my W2 will arrive. They said it will go out later that week. I waited...and waited...and waited. No W2. I call them to find out where it is. I get a response saying that it was returned. I give them the address to send it to. I get a call this morning from them and find out that my W2 was not the one returned and to contact so-and-so who by the way is on vacation this week.

Until my company (or at least here in home office) starts a Make Your Own Martini Bar in the cafeteria, the make Your Own Sundae bar will have to do. Seriously, this day has been enough to drive me to drink.

What?! No Amaretto, or Irish Creme for toppings on the Make Your Own Sundae Bar? What kinda place are they running there?

I just got a note from a manager of a team we scrimmaged back in November asking when we can host the second half of the home and home. We slaughtered these guys back in November, then again in District play. I had forgotten about this one and figured they did too. If we play them it'll be a waste of good practice ice for our guys and more likely to start bad habits than to improve our guys. I'm thinking of offering them cash instead to see if we can avoid it.

I would think that if you were to offer them the cost of an hour of ice time that they would take it without excessive complaining.

So, I'm going to miss the Thursday and Friday afternoon games of the F5 to get my tooth fixed for free (actually, I was offered parking, lunch, and $50 from the dental student on TOP of getting the free work done by the dental school).

On the positive side, it appears that I'll have an extra ticket to the Saturday afternoon Wild game, if anyone is interested.

Everything went really well, they were able to stay with the laparoscopy (thought theyd have to fully open her up), and the Dr. says they got it all, doesn't look like it spread to anything else. :)*

If they don't accept, maybe you can offer to do a one-period scrimmage, then do some concurrent practice before or afterwards. They could probably use it. :p Those sorts of games can be really damaging to both teams, honestly. A couple of my friends were on a college club team which played Finlandia University just before it bumped up to NCAA D-III, and FU slaughtered them with 19 goals the first night. The second night, the FU coach asked them to just make it a scrimmage, because it was hurting his squad.

Maybe tMel can have you do some recruiting while you're there? If nothing else, I'm sure you'll be doing some "recruiting" of their sisters. :p

ctf: Awesome!

I was talking to one of the guys from our distributor here (where I'm working this week), and he said that in Sweden I'm much better off getting out into the middle of nowhere. He said that the food is better, the people are more friendly/fun and the girls are better looking than in the big cities like Stockholm. I have no idea how true that is, but it at least sounds good.

I dunno about that, seems like you'd have a lot more work to do to find said women.

Either way, bring your Neat Hat (c) and your shytekickers, and hope you can find a bar to watch some hockey at while you're there.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 144: (Lack of) Winter Wonderland

For those of you in cityslickerville, any ideas for a decent place to get a bite to eat near Mariucci before the game?

And unless you plan to carry a barf bag with you leave the Garth Brooks at home. But maybe your 10 gallon serves a mutil purpose......
