Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 144: (Lack of) Winter Wonderland

For those of you in cityslickerville, any ideas for a decent place to get a bite to eat near Mariucci before the game?

Campus Pizza.

And what is your plan on Sat for pre- and post-game? Sounds like BPH, MNS, and I are for sure in.

I'm in for pre-game, but at some point during the game I'm planning on heading over to TK's for the Brian Gleason show.

My plans are all f 'd up.

Initially I was going to both games and hanging out all weekend with my bestest childhood bud. A weekend of craziness was on the agenda. He had to back out as his work schedule is keeping him on the left coast.

I have had some last minute stuff pop up and will not be coming down until Saturday.

Mrs. g will be joining me and now I find out that two other couples want to meet up.

Long story short......my weekend of craziness that I have been anticipating for months just went up in flames Not sure about pregaming. Will for sure meet up at game. Not sure about post game. :(

I am still interested in buying that broom you bought for the DU series. ;)

Geez! And boo. :( I don't think we're going to the game. Man, if you're not around, I may just head to TK's. I've only been there once this year.

Yeesh indeed.

Dinner with Mrs. g shouldn't be bad to arrange either - the Loring Pasta Bar comes to mind, among others - but I'm probably out too if that's the case. If she gives you more slack with the ball and chain ;), let us know.

Boo is right. I will know more about pregame tomorrow and I will for sure post.

Where is TK located?

This pizza place you mentioned. Good food and booze? Walking distance to the arena?

TK's is about 20-30 minutes west of the campus, in St Louis Park.

I haven't eaten at Campus Pizza but GopherPuckLive heavily endorses it (and their members frequent it quite often). It is within walking distance.

I should clarify. Pre game I am primarily looking for some grub but most importantly some drinks within walking distance to arena.

I am aggressively making it known within our group that I want to be in an establishment close to the arena around 5 pm.

I will be staying in the Coon Rapids area.

Blaine Brook Bowl anyone? ;)

What Brent said about Campus Pizza, then. Otherwise, Sally's is for more of the younger crowd but has decent drink specials, Stub & Herb's is a classic, and... hm. That's all I can think of right now (though there are lots of others), those are all within 3 blocks of the Mooch though.

Also, avoid Washington Avenue for the most part, since it's all buggered up with the LRT construction and impassable past Oak Street.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 144: (Lack of) Winter Wonderland

Oh JFC Blainbrook. That's kickin' it old school if I ever heard it (though my crowd always did Flaherty's instead of Blainbrook or the 'maid.)

Blainbrook isn't.....horrible.

The 'maid......geeeez. Went there once. That was enough.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 144: (Lack of) Winter Wonderland

Oh, if you can, park in the Oak Street ramp. It's cheap, and it's a couple block away from everything.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 144: (Lack of) Winter Wonderland

It looks like Mrs. goldy and I will be there Saturday, but Greyeagle is going to the Friday game. It *might* be possible for us to meet pre-game as well. Jr. has a late practice that night so we're going to pawn him off on a teammate's family for rides and meet him back home after the game. The proprietor of Campus Pizza tells me he has some gluten free pizza crusts in stock after my urging for same. So I owe him my buying a couple of them.

Where did you game tickets wind up? Any luck on unloading the Sec 3 tix?

Celebrated my 21st there. Puked twice that night. Once in the cue stick holder and once in the side pocket of a pool table.

Oh, I always thought the opposite - got chased around Blaine by some dooshes who were hanging out in the Blainbrook parking lot (though it was kinda fun, actually.) It's probably worse now, with the Brunswick SooperDooperBowlingPlex a few blocks down the street.

Besides, the 'maid has cleaned itself up a lot.

Still have section 3 for Saturday. A couple people have four tix center ice and want us to join them there.

No offense to anyone in the Lodge but my weekend just got really complicated once mrs g got involved. :)

Blainbrook had some awesome "string bowling" game, and the crowd was pretty average in dooshiness. It's just the 'Murica types that hang out there.

I really like the Big Ten Restaurant and Bar along SE Washington Ave, a couple blocks west of Sally's. It's mostly known for its hoagies, but the place has other stuff, too.
