Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 144: (Lack of) Winter Wonderland

I am leaning towards campus pizza. I will post confirmation ASAP for those interested.

Brunswick SooperDooperBowlingPlex .

We will be staying with my uncle who doesnt live to far way from that place. In fact, he is an executive for Brunswick.

FWIW another watering hole I visited in that area was Povs. Wasn't there another place something called B Bops?

My class' graduation party was at The Mermaid. Actually had a lot fun by embracing how effing stupid it was.

Ah, THAT Povs.

And yeah, BeBop isn't far. Played broomball there once, with Midget.

Be Bop is on 109th, between University and 65.

That's even lamer than my HS grad party, and they just held ours at the high school. They had one of those bouncy castles though, and a bunch of other stuff going on. Almost made me forget that there wasn't any booze there. :p

Not that I drank until college anyway :o

That entire area has changed so much. Especially by Brunswick and the new Lowes store heading north on 65.

Yeah, Blaine figured out how to turn swamps into serviceable land.

Also, Pov's on 65 is now being marketed towards the young crowd again. The one in Andover is supposedly closing, and becoming a Wal-Mart.

I have no idea which Povs I went to. All I know is I hung out there because a few of my buds worked at 93x and they always had some gimmicks going on there Thursday nights.

They do again, actually. The one on 65, that is.

All this talk about dives in the north metro makes me want to go to Shortstop and get a ridiculously greasy burger.

If it was ginormous, then it was the "good" Pov's. If it was kinda rundown, it was the old Povs On 65.

In no way has the one in Andover ever been better. Well, except now maybe. All the annoying dooshes show up at the old one now with 93x around and the drink specials. I have a feeling Spring Lake Park won't let them keep them long.

I thought it had better bands and such. Whenever I went to the Povs On 65, it was biker-heavy. And not in a good way.

Band-wise Andover was where to go. But a majority of the clientele there would annoy the hell out of me. But I always enjoyed 65 for it being dingy and quiet.

Oh JFC Blainbrook. That's kickin' it old school if I ever heard it (though my crowd always did Flaherty's instead of Blainbrook or the 'maid.)

Ahh... Flaherty's. :)
We'd walk over there for lunch once in awhile when I worked over that way. Great bar food.
