At least you know you're about 1-2 hours away from seeing the mountains. The end is clearly in sight.

In Nebraska, it's just flat treeless semi-filled awfulness.

My boss and his son drove from Michigan to Wyoming a couple years ago. I think they were on the same road for just under 1,000 miles.

If it takes you more than 4 hours of driving time to go from Hudson to Madison, you are doing something wrong.

The vast stretches of nothingness in states that comprise the great plains make the drives between major cities awful.

The views during the drive in Montana were not bad, but seeing mile markers 1300+ when you enter the state is just plain depressing.

And I'm about 90 minutes from Hudson, with decent traffic. :P

How? It's only about 35 miles if you take 394 at Ridgedale to 94 to Hudson. Even if you don't speed, that shouldn't take you more than ~45 minutes provided that the ramp from east 394 to east 94 isn't horribly backed up.

I just drove from Hampshire, IL (about 40 miles from the IL/WI border) to Mounds View in 5-1/2 hours with a gas stop. In *hitty weather (freezing mist crap).

You people have issues. :p

Not really. It takes me 6.5 to 7 to get to my grandma's house on the south side of Chicago. I hit Madison in about 4 hours.

If it takes you 90 minutes to get to Hudson, there is a long pedal by your right foot called an accelerator. I suggest you try it.;)

Seriously though, it ought to take NO MORE THAN an hour Hopkinsish-Hudson, and that's if you drive like the stereotypical grandmother.
