Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

Morning Lodge.

Jeeze yeah, even I did!

I suspect that Brent had to gas up on that drive and, of course, he paid by check so that's why it took him so dam long.

Roads were ****y indeed this AM. Took me ~ an hour to drive 25 miles from DT Mpls to west side of Stillwater.

I would think, with a gas station, you'd pay with cash. That way you can get 5 cents off per gallon. ;)

Well, just got off the boat unexpectedly. Got a call a couple hours ago that I could go take another needed class in Houston, soooo going to the Baton Rouge Airport to pick up a rental and drive to Htown. Won't be home until Friday evening now.

There aren't a lot of places around my neck of the woods that give a discount for paying in cash. Even if they did, is it worth saving $0.60 per fill up to deal with the hassle of going inside and waiting in line for the yokels getting their latest batch of scratch-off lottery tickets?

For one fill up, not really, but if you're doing over the course of year, buying something like a 1000 gallons of gas, then you're saving at least $50 bucks over a year. probably worth the hassle of trying to perfect pump the gas and going inside to pay for it.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

Or you could, you know, find a gas station that pumps it for you. Like I do. :) So easy to hand the cash out your window.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

I get about 15 cents back per gallon from my fuel co-op. So thanks to all of you that buy fuel!

It's more like 650 gallons that I use each year, roughly one tank per week. At a nickel per trip, averaging 12 gallons per fill up, that's $32.50/year. It's not worth not only going inside but making extra trips to ATMs so I can save that $0.60 that day. I'll pass.

The only place I know about in MN where they offer full service gas stations are at the fancy car wash/detailing shops.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

I didn't know that any gas stations still had full-service.

Does NJ still require them? They did about 3 years ago.

The one station in Edina that had full service was sold and will be dropping it (or already did). I don't know what my wife will do if I don't keep the tank full. Maybe she'll find another one somewhere. She refuses to operate a gas pump.

They do. It's ridiculous that New Jersey has full-service stations (I think you're legally not allowed to pump gas for yourself there!), and still pay less per gallon than we do here.

Afternoon, Lodge. Job applications aren't getting any more interesting :o

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

I just read the St. Paul Winter Carnival medallion clues, and I think I know where it is. But if I'm right it would have been way to easy to figure out...so I'm guessing I'm wrong. Plus I'm not driving all they way to St. Paul to go trudging around looking for a stupid medallion.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

And didn't bother to call me? Well screw you too. :p ;)

To keep the details to a minimum, HN and I met up for the weekend. Hadn't seen each other since the week between Christmas and New Year's. You figure it out. :p

To be fair, we didn't see our other friends in the area, either.
