They do. It's ridiculous that New Jersey has full-service stations (I think you're legally not allowed to pump gas for yourself there!), and still pay less per gallon than we do here.

Afternoon, Lodge. Job applications aren't getting any more interesting :o

Considering they don't have to worry about keeping some "rainy day funds" for prosecuting drive-offs, and the delivery charge is VERY small, not to mention tax policies, I'm cool with it.

I personally keep a decent stake of cash with me, only because I have had issues with credit cards in the past getting cancelled. Typically when I travel, I carry $50-$100 per state I drive through (and I've needed it before). I will use cash for gasoline when a discount is offered, but depending on the price, I won't necessarily go out of my way to try to find one. Maybe I should look to get a Fastrac membership and save 10-15 cents to the gallon.

I just read the St. Paul Winter Carnival medallion clues, and I think I know where it is. But if I'm right it would have been way to easy to figure out...so I'm guessing I'm wrong. Plus I'm not driving all they way to St. Paul to go trudging around looking for a stupid medallion.
I've got an idea too, though probably not as strong an idea since I'm not a golfer.

I would think, with a gas station, you'd pay with cash. That way you can get 5 cents off per gallon. ;)

I'll keep paying with my credit card that gives me 3% cash back (about $0.10 per gal) not have to go inside and not have to worry about carrying cash. Seems like an all around win for me.

Fred Meyer's rewards program is awesome for this. Each $100 spent allows you a 10 cent per gallon discount. Stackable. Feels good to knock 50 whole cents a gallon off your price.

Fred Meyer really DOES hack - your prices.

To keep the details to a minimum, HN and I met up for the weekend. Hadn't seen each other since the week between Christmas and New Year's. You figure it out. :p

To be fair, we didn't see our other friends in the area, either.
:D

I'm just glad you didn't get a room in Rockvegas.

Does NJ still require them? They did about 3 years ago.

Yes. I was just in NJ a few months ago and you can't pump your own gas there. Oregon has that law too, I think. Not sure what the reasoning is behind it.

Kroger's has the same deal, being parent company to Fred and all.

If it wasn't for the $8 GW bridge to NJ, it would have been worth it for me when I was at school to go to NJ to buy gas. Usually ~40 cents cheaper than NY, thank you outrageous taxes.

And yes, EVERY station in NJ is full service. Keeps the immigrants employed. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 143: A Golden ;) Oldie

. . . is it worth saving $0.60 per fill up to deal with the hassle of going inside and waiting in line for the yokels getting their latest batch of scratch-off lottery tickets?

I got stuck behind a guy last week who, I swear, bought twenty different scratch-offs. He'd get two, then stop and think and chat up the clerk, then say, "And how about two of those 'Three Blind Mice?'" This went on for I bet six actual minutes. Unbelievable.

you know, I hadn't thought about that before... I haven't seen any of those in ye olde big city.

Usually he's buying a pack of smokes and a herald as well

Those people.....ugh.

Or the ones that insist on the clerk checking their lotto numbers. How hard is it to match numbers in the newspaper or online?!
