Very jealous. Good chunk of my heritage is from there. (Inverness)

The other large part is out of Göteborg, Sweden.

He is already a Lodge member.
Stink. Well someone didn't like him at some point.

That bastard.

The Inverness folk were originally from the Orkney Islands, so I want to go there too. The only other place is Trecin, Slovakia.
I have folks from Boleskine (just below Inverness), the Orkneys (my father's side may have married my mother's side about 8 generations back, and Aberdeenshire. On the other side the Swedes were from Varmland. I want to be bb_dl except I do not want the hat.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! saturday
GO DHS!!

I guess I am a little superstitious

Good Morning Lodge.

I guess i visited the HHT last night. The results of the games beyond the Gopher's bye improved their PWR standings and jr's team won another tourney game on a night they didn't play very well. They face an Omaha team this afternoon. Should be interesting.

Dammit. Now I want to buy some Orkney Skull Splitter Scotch Ale. Thanks a lot.

Mornin' lodge.

Moving up 3 spots in PWR without playing is pretty nice.

I noticed the front page is touting BU as #2. Pretty sure they are #3. effin' eastern bias! I doubt they are smrt enough to be referring to the PWR standings instead of the polls.

They won't be after they lose to Harvard in the 'pot on Monday!

I didn't get over to the east side of Scotland, since I'm staying in Glasgow I stayed in the west. Yesterday we drove north from Dumbarton (where our customer that we're working with is located) up the western side of Loch Lomond to Crianlarich, then went west towards Oban for a while. Eventually we turned around and headed straight east to Stirling and back south to Glasgow. So I only got to see the south western edge of the highlands in the area around Loch Lomond, but what I did see was awesome.

Today I had to drop my coworker off at the airport at 7:00, so from there I drove south to Troon, where I checked out Royal Troon, and yes, there were people out golfing at the break of day, in 40 degree, rainy, 40 mph wind weather. But then, I would have gone too if it meant I could play Royal Troon. After that I drove north along the Firth of Clyde back up and around towards Glasgow.

At 10:00 I was at Auchentoshan Distillery for their first tour, which was awesome. It was an hour long, cost 6 pounds and included a dram of Whisky. Not a bad deal. The whisky was fantastic, better than any of the stuff that is common back home. I ended up spending way too much money and bought a couple bottles: an 18 year Auchentoshan and a 12 year from their sister distillery Bowmore, which is an Islay (Auchentoshan is a lowlands). Then I drove north some more up the eastern side of Loch Lomond and made my way to Glengoyne Distillery and took another tour there, which was very similar to the first one, but it was interesting to learn about the differences between the two distilleries. My tour guide at Glengoyne was a gorgeous girl that, obviously, had a sweet accent and said "wee dram of whisky" about 800 times. It was awesome. Seriously, she was a looker. I was able to try Glengoyne's 10 year old and 17 year old whiskys, and I ended up buying a bottle of the 17 year old.

There are a couple more bottles that I want to buy at the duty free shop, including one for brent. I have to go the duty free store route because this is all I can fit into my luggage, and I can carry on the duty free stuff.

I definitely want to come back for an actual vacation because there is so much more to see here and I only had one and a half days for fun stuff. I still have a little time today, that I'm going to use to check out Glasgow some more.

Edit: also, I don't do trains. I rented a car ans that's the way I'd recommend it. There were too many times that I wanted to pull off the road and check something out or take a bunch of pictures, and obviously you can't do that with a train. I think I would have missed way too much if I took the train.
