Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

I don't have to worry about gifts this year, just like the last year or two, as I give the money to charity (and ask my family do the same).

Chilling at Chez Rube until Sunday, when my immediate family has Christmas Dinner (last Sunday was immediate family and extended family, due to travel options).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

Lunch at a totally awesome mexican place today, then my boss let us out right after. Bruins absolutely massacre Florida, good beer, good night.

Christmas can go f itself, but time off is nice!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

well, i went out today and made the purchase. black garter. black stocking & white stockings. i told my niece what i did and she laughed and told me i'll soon be broke (she knows about the $100 payments i have to give girl to wear the heeled boots - says this will cost me even more)
Pay her in ones, make it rain for her!!! ;):D

Yawn, tired, busy day. went in early to do a hot stone training session and then had four 1 hour massages. 3 of them pretty much wanted a deep relaxing massage. The last one said and I quite, "I want you to beat the **** out of my shoulder". Odd thing about that is that we ended up doing that as a couples massage. So while I'm over on my client pulling her scapula all around, her hubby was over on the other side getting some fluff and buff relaxing massage.

Leave a trail of pigeon sh*t.

Wouldn't pig sh*t and canned corn be more apropos for Iowa?

Christmas I don't mind. Christmas retail idiocy, however, can go * itself sideways with a 32" HDTV covered in a gross of e-books, coated in every piece of Twilight merchandise sold this year, and wrapped in a thousand strings of old-style Christmas lights. Plugged in.

That's the thing. The commercial Christmas ruined the real Christmas for me. I wanna curl up, watch 20 hours of "A Christmas Story", wake up at 6am to open presents, yell "Yay Jesus!", and eat a dead bird.

Nope. It's buybuybuybuybuybuy. Starting in July. * you. Done with Christmas. In the words of Randall, "I'm taking it back!"

Don't worry, every man in America will still be shopping tomorrow afternoon. But it's ok, because by this time we either know what we want to buy, or we're content to get everyone neckties and Chia pets.

And it's beef brisket for my family. Definitely looking forward to that.

I used to be prided as the man that did that. MOA, 1-2 days before Christmas. Then common sense took over. ;) :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 141: We Didn't Start The (* Hockey Table On) Fire

Meh. Christmas is just another in a long line of holidays I'd rather work and earn double pay while the other chumps are at home dealing with their idiotic families and rampant consumerism.

I hate how everyone is in such a great ****ing mood on Christmas. I go to my aunt's house and everyone is all joyful and ****, and it ****es me off. Then I can't just sit and watch TV or read a book like I want to, I have to be ****ing sociable.

I definitely won't be shopping tomorrow. Absolutely not. I bought some **** online, the bare minimum. Today, I still needed a gift card from Fleet Farm and one from Barnes and Noble. I went to Fleet Farm, no problems there, there never is at Fleet Farm. Then I go to Barnes and Noble, I walk in the door and the line to check out is easily 50 people long. I said, probably a little too loudly, "oh **** this" turn around and walk right out the door. Grandma doesn't need another ****ing book that bad. No way, no how was I going to put up with that bull****.

I hate Christmas.

edit: I did stop at a liquor store on the way home and picked up a handle of Seagrams for the next two days. I am drinking my way through this hell. I don't care anymore what the family thinks, if I have to put up with their being in annoyingly happy moods, they can deal with drunk bbdl.

So you're Scrooge?

C'mon man, Christmas is all about being joyful and merry!

Tell that to do multiple stores that beg for your business, and have been doing so since T-Day at the least. Or car commercials. Hello, FirstWorldProblems. Yeah, gonna buy a car for my wife. Yup. Was out of ideas until then. Here's a hint: you're a f*ing dumbsh* and/or a schmuck.

This a great rant, but I'mma gonna stop it now. Just sayin'. ;D

Can't you at least drink your whiskey in egg nog form? :D

The booze is not a particularly bad idea. So is the Fleet Farm gift card, actually - Dad could use that a hell of a lot more than he could use a new digital camera.

I agree that all of the material things that come with Christmas and have society often times forgetting the true meaning of CHRISTmas are sickening, but why let it ruin your Christmas?

Cub Foods near me has a rack of gift cards for various different places, a pretty big selection of places, really, and I thought that I saw Barnes & Noble cards on the rack, if it's of any help.

Forget that. Christmas is pure hell, I hate it. I can't wait until December 26th, the day that is furthest away from being Christmas.
