Good morning Lodge.
Wow, lots of Xmas love in the Lodge last night.
Good Morning Lodge.
I have to say that I am enormously amused by those, like bb and Brent, who let these minor peripheral issues get them all worked up. Don't like the crowds and shopping - don't do it, or find an alternative. Don't like the family being happy, * you and the horse you rode in on you *ing curmudgeon. Why the hell would anyone be annoyed because their family is happy, unless they hate their family? I could see it if gmann was p***ed at the inlaws being happy, but bb makes no *ing sense in his rant. Don't like all the commercials on TV, don't watch TV, or use the remote to channel flip or DVR and speed through them.
As to the crowds and shopping, I went out and did some shopping yesterday. When I went to Barnes and Noble the lines were like bb said, but the worst part was the parking lot so I went to a nearby ramp and walked a little further instead of dealing with all the morons cruising the lot. I needed the walk anyway. Inside the store, I knew the downstairs registers would have a shorter line so I went there instead, again, I can use the extra walk. I went to Southdale which is also nuts, but again went to less busy part of the parking lot and walked a little way, no big deal. Also went to stores and departments that are less crowded and never had to wait much in lines. Not that hard. The worst I had to deal with was the traffic around General Sports and the wait to get my kid's skates sharpened - seems everyone in Edina needed their skates sharpened yesterday.
So to the curmudgeons in the Lodge - Merry Christmas.
I hate how everyone is in such a great ****ing mood on Christmas. I go to my aunt's house and everyone is all joyful and ****, and it ****es me off. Then I can't just sit and watch TV or read a book like I want to, I have to be ****ing sociable.
I definitely won't be shopping tomorrow. Absolutely not. I bought some **** online, the bare minimum. Today, I still needed a gift card from Fleet Farm and one from Barnes and Noble. I went to Fleet Farm, no problems there, there never is at Fleet Farm. Then I go to Barnes and Noble, I walk in the door and the line to check out is easily 50 people long. I said, probably a little too loudly, "oh **** this" turn around and walk right out the door. Grandma doesn't need another ****ing book that bad. No way, no how was I going to put up with that bull****.
I hate Christmas.
edit: I did stop at a liquor store on the way home and picked up a handle of Seagrams for the next two days. I am drinking my way through this hell. I don't care anymore what the family thinks, if I have to put up with their being in annoyingly happy moods, they can deal with drunk bbdl.
Merry Christmas!
Seagrams sucks.
Online without even leaving the house? DuhYou know, you can get a Barnes & Noble gift card at Walgreens. Just sayin'.
not if you're Orthodox.
I am confused. Can someone reconcile these two statements for me? Granted I don't pay that much attention, but i thought that in past years Scarlet celebrated in January.I think I'm going to bring my Christmas tree and decorating stuff down to my storage unit today. I never wound up putting it up. It's just taking up room.

Have you met Scarlet? She would never turn down an opportunity to celebrate!

This explanation made me laugh. No, we don't celebrate on January 6th (or is it 7th?). I remember having this conversation with a priest (or a seminary student back in the day) but honestly, I can't recall the answer. It was something along the lines of we celebrate on March 25th, which is the Annunciation (when Mary gets knocked up) and Christmas is 9 months later.
I did meet her between periods at the 2009 FF.
I won't make any jokes, since it's the holidays.
A period?Ha! I just got that.
