Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! terrible tuesday
We are having a thunderstorm, a good sized one with the thunder coming close together and things flashing away. My kid is at the bus stop in the middle of it. standing. I am a worrywort for thinking he shouldn't stand out there with the lightning flashing. I can understand a 15 yr old thinking this is OK- they have no synapses working for danger. Mr. on the other hand....

There is zero chance he will be hit by thunder. ;)

Also the odds of being hit by lightning are pretty low. 1/775,000 in any given year.

Hey, JF...
Talked to the hubby last night. He'd like more info about the openings at your company, please.

I'm there. Start time? I'll invoke "leave on time" if necessary. And right now, it's necessary.
I will be home at about 5, so anytime after that is fine. The people from the UP aren't supposed to be here until about 9. Hopefully I can get 3-4 people from around here to come over, then there will be a group of about 8, which would be perfect for sitting around the fire.

Morning Lodge.

For all those around the Twin Cities I think I'm having a bonfire Friday night. It has been cold enough to kill off most of the mosquitos and this weekend is supposed to be gorgeous. I have 3 friends coming down from Duluth/UP for the weekend, so they'll be here. Anyone else is welcome, as long as I don't hate you, which is no one that posts in the lodge. :p BYOB, but I do have some good liquor we can tap into after a while.

Thanks for the invite, a bonfire would be good about now. I'd recommend keeping a hose nearby given how dry it has been. But, surprisingly enough I plan to watch hockey that night. I will likely be going to the Gopher home opener with Sacred Heart, if I were not, I'd be watching Bantam tryouts with my son skating.

You don't want to read about the Great Ham Lake Wildfire of 2011?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

So, I had to re-schedule my September dentist appointment till today. I did this back in May. However, since it was a re-schedule, trying to get it as close to my original September appointment I had to take what I could get for a time. Which was 9:30. Problem is I thought it was at my usual time of 8:30 and now I'm sitting here in the waiting room for the hygienist to arrive.

When I fly, I almost always have to check a bag because I usually have to stay several days, and my carry on bag is really freaking small, that I can't fit more than a day or 2 worth of clothes in it. Tomorrow I have to fly to Nashville for a day, and it'll be short enough that I'm hoping to just use my carry on. So, question: is a stick of gel deodorant considered a "liquid" as far TSA is concerned? Or can I carry on a normal sized stick of gel deodorant, as long as its in my 1 quart ziplock?
My flights last week I didn't even do the ziploc thing, just kept the toothpaste and deodarant in my carry-on. Never have an issue.

I didn't pack my deodorant, I figure I can just buy a travel sized one once I get through security or during my layover. I'll need something to kill some time.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 137: Counting the long summer days

Morning. Found out this AM that I go back to my old boat and our old run (Houston-Alabama (right near Huntsville!)) on Thursday. Gonna be going for 2 weeks this time, then home for 10 days before going back to Houston to go take a 2 week school. I'll then go right to the boat for a full month, so I won't be home much between now and about 2 weeks before Christmas.
