Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 136: Again?

Good morning Lodge. It's raining here. Hope it lets up. I'm going to Fenway tonight for NKOTBSB Take 2!!! At Fenway!!! I don't want it to get rained out. I don't think it will but it will affect my wardrobe for the evening.

rain or shine....

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 136: Again?

Right there in Leviticus 11:7 and 11:8. :)

Edit: Also Deuteronomy 14:8.
And later in the NT Paul eats with the 'unclean' and when he is chastised he relates he had a vision from God that this is OK. Hmm. Which part to follow- the Bacon, or no bacon path :D

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! silly saturday.

Yeah, I know the rules are laid out in there. However in her case (she's run the Boston Marathon, always cooks light, etc.), I still think it's just an excuse not to eat ham and bacon. :)

Good morning Lodge! 15 minutes late for work... ended up in a funeral procession on 41, but it was for a soldier killed in Afghanistan, so I couldn't complain (nor could my boss)

It's a cold, gloomy day in Houghton.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 136: Again?

Good Evening, Lodge!

Didn't get the Graphic Designer job in Buffalo, MN. Still looking...

cc Scarlet: Yes, I definitely would want to move to Boston.

Our Design Manager was out last week at a conference. I'll talk to her next week. She had been talking about trying to get another resource in the department. Not sure where that went but I'll ask. I don't know how you feel about freelance work - that might be another option. We work with designers like that all across the country. I'll follow up with you after I've had a chance to talk to her.

Thank you! I do some freelance work periodically.

Good Afternoon Lodge. Sadly, in work for the day, but at least I'll be hitting up a roller derby match tonight!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 136: Again?

I have plenty. My dad suddenly declared himself Kosher so I'm left with more pork products than I know what to do with.

For those (non-Jewish) faiths that won't eat pork, do they also refuse shellfish?

A-la-carte religion is dangerous.
This was my thought as well. Depending on what he means as far as keeping Kosher, he may not be able to share plates/kitchenware with you, he'd have to learn (or find a place that does) proper slaughter, give up shellfish, among other rules. I agree on the a-la-carte religion, I think it both takes away from the religion from which you've borrowed your traditions (makes them seem less important) and doesn't give you the reasoning for what you're doing.

Ugh.
After I run Boston, I want something REALLY bad for me.

He will refuse shellfish, but he shares plates and silverware with me. What bothers me is that they're practicing a false asceticsm, as in giving up pork will make them appear more spiritual. Matter of fact, one day I bragged on facebook that I was satueeing my veggies in bacon fat, and he yelled at me, fearing that his friends from church would see my status.

Ugh.

And after I get done with Chicago, I'm going to have a nice size calorie bomb. Perhaps the Bacon Bomb.

So when is your Dad going to pretend he is a grown up?
