Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

Think I'm drawing closer in the house hunt.

Found a really nice and easily affordable 1BR condo in a great neighborhood. Probably a little small, but it led to the discovery of a bunch of 2BRs in the same association at a great price. It's tough to find a good, quiet neighborhood in Anchorage since it's so spotty.

Cool part about these is all costs considered, I wouldn't be paying much more than I'd pay in rent, so I could continue my current rate of savings AND build equity. Plus I'd have money to remodel if I wanted, or to go out and have fun with. Didn't move here to sit in my house all day and watch "Ow, My Balls."

I'll probably give my realtor a few more days just in case she stumbles across a diamond in the rough somewhere, then make a move on one of them this weekend or so.

It is a test for level of antibodies in the body. If you had chicken pox you would have a positive titer for antibodies. They test for IgG when they are testing for immunity (IgGone) which shows no active response (IgM- IgiMmediate shows that). When you go in to healthcare they frequently ask for proof of immunization or titers for measles, mumps, german measles. Where ewe is going they are really paranoid if I recall and ask for titers of everything including for Varicella (chickenpox). PIA and they take some time to return after being sent out. In Mass they get sent to a State lab.

Hadn't thought about a local office. Will try and look that up tomorrow.

Yup - MMR, Chix pox, and Hep B.

Quick Q for you as you're in medicine: can I still get the flu vaccine (or should I just wait until this next one comes out next winter)? My clinicals start in Sept...so I won't be in patient contact (for school) until then.

(Also, if you go to a CRNP at an OB-GYN office, can they fill out my health record if they're my PCP?)

Get next yrs. It should be available by the time you start. Don't get it too early. It is most effective for 6 months. we get hit here around Jan-March. The Walgreen's/CVS idjits were vaccinating in early July. Not a good idea.

They don't care who fills out your form as long as they sign off on the info and have the letters after the name (cynical much? :D)

87 degrees, stiffling heat/humidity and Lil decides to run 4 miles (yesterday- humid 78 degrees was too hot ) He came in, took his shirt off and lay on the hardwood floor. He is now upstairs showering and there is a sweat angel on my living room floor. Yick. I wouldn't trade him in for anything but....

CC to Lil......

Impressive!!!

I would really take a good long look at the 2BR condos, for a few reasons.

Looking at SCARY THUNDERSTORM SKY at the moment.

You okay over there?

Definitely paying for the rain I've had in the last couple weeks, the mosquitoes are out in full force now, was outside for maybe 5 minutes, get 3 bites, granted only 1 of them flew away, little ****ers

I am. One of them has actually been on the market for four whole months, and has already suffered a price drop (it's actually the same price as the 1BR.) It's so low that I'm suspicious as to why, but after seeing it the reason why it's not selling is not readily apparent. It's been vacant the whole time, good condition, has brand new carpet, paint, etc., in a great neighborhood near hospitals and UAA, and not foreclosed or a short sale or anything. Any exterior problems like the roof, etc. would be the HOA's problem and not mine.

I've also heard that the 1BR would be tougher to sell, since the market for them is pretty much limited to people like me just starting out and older people looking to downsize.

Housing in Anchorage has actually been fairly flat despite the carnage in the Lower 48. Anchorage is out of room to expand, so what's there is there. Given what I've seen so far, these are a steal, and I absolutely love the neighborhood. Mostly younger professionals and younger childless couples, so quiet it's almost scary, tucked away off the main streets so no one goes in there unless they have a reason to be there, etc.

Yep. You're thinking right. Do your due diligence and you're going to do fine.

This made me laugh so loudly that my FIL wanted to know what my problem is. Lots of thunder and ominous sky with some gusty wind but nothin' else. yet.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

Evening, Lodge. Nice dinner of parmesan-encrusted whitefish with boiled new potatoes for dinner and now chocolate chip biscotti are in the oven.

I saw your post on Fark... let me say that I hate you. There's no such thing as 2bedroom 150 around here... I'll be happy if I can eventually leverage 2br 350.

Just give me a townhome, where the buffalo roam...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

Mmmm, bacon wrapped ribeye bites with onions and peppers. Sides of the best garlic bread I've tasted and home grown sweet corn from last summer.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 135: Rain, rain go away

Chicken just came off the grill. Salad and tomato accompany the chicken.

Grey sky, lots of wind, random rain here. Crazy tornadoes elsewhere in the state. Coverage almost pre-empted the Bruins game.

When ch 7 went for hockey over action weather (2011 tornadogedden!!!!), you knew it wasn't serious! ;)
